OK I'm new here...wondering where all the bass players are. Would be cool to see where everyone is from, where you play, what type of gear you use, etc... etc....
This is kinda a repeat of my "welcome post" but I'll go first. I'm from Maineville Ohio and I play bass for www.originschurch.tv . It's like beeing a rock star every Sunday...we have loud music, smoke, lights, the whole nine yards! We play alot of Crowder, Hillsong, Fee, you get the picture. My main axe is a MusicMan Stingray 5. At church I play direct into the system through an Eden Navigator. I also have an Eden 210 Metro combo and a Gallien Krueger MB112 for practice and small areas.

Well, currently I am playing bass. Usually I play guitar (and occasionally, mandolin). I play at Trinity Lutheran Church (and school) in Litchfield Park, AZ (we have a website here). Litchifeld Park is west of Phoenix, but still in the greater metro area.
I play a Musicman Bongo 5 through a small Ampeg BA115T which has a direct out to the board. The amp is used for local monitoring. We play Hillsong, a little Crowder, and more traditional praise stuff. Sort of current to 20 years ago P&W style. If I get the scratch, I think I am going to get one of these, but haven't decided about the cabinets yet. |

Welcome OC Bassist,
You might check the top thread to see some picks over the years of the Bass intruments the folks here have played. I'm sure your post would be welcome -since none have been added since last year! ![]() Looking forward to you posts.

I spend about half my gig time these days as one of the bassists for our church P&W band - the rest of the time I'm on rhythm guitar in my regular band and also occasional drum duty at church in the P&W band...
Gear - real simple Ibanez GSR205 bass (their bottom of the line 5-string) into a M&M SS 112 combo rig (belongs to a church member) or my personal rig, Peavey MkIV head into a Peavey 210 TBX cabinet - either way, great tone that lets me carry the groove. |

Hi OC.
I'm in Fort Worth, mainly playing at First Baptist of Keller (just north of FW). Normal rig these days is a Line 6 Variax through my Dual Showman Reverb - we do a wide variety of music, so the Line 6 is a great way to match the sound to the song. I also have a Fender Jazz, a Warwick fretless, and an old Electra that I really love. My other amps are a Fender Bassman 100, the GK head / Fender 115 rig that my son took to college (maybe that means it's not mine anymore?) and a Woodson head and cabinet that lives at the house. Like some of the other folks, I switch out on other instruments too, but usually brass instead of guitar

I play lead guitar 99% of the time but I LOVE playing bass and don't get to do it enough.
I have had Carvin and Fender 4 and 5 string basses over the years but I'm down to a very nice MIM fretless Jazz bass that works fine for occasional church duties and really well for jazz gigs I play. Our worship tunes are Brewster, Crowder, Tomlin.......

I'm one of 5 or 6 bass players at New Life Church in Conway, AR. I've been playing there for almost two years about once a month. I play an Ibanez SR405 that I've had forever. I also have my dad's '72 Telecaster, but since it needs a bit of work, I haven't played it in a live setting.

I live in Cullman, Alabama. Play guitar and bass.
On guitar I use Gibson Les Paul, Gretsch 6120 or Strat through Vox AC30, Fender 59 Bassman or Fender Blues Junior depending on the gig. Sometimes for effects I'll use a pedal board with an assortment of gadgets on it and sometimes I'll just use a TubeScreamer. For bass I'll play a Hofner 500/1 V61 Cavern bass or a Fender '51 Precision. Bass amps are Genz-Benz and Gallien-Krueger. Like Refin, I too am getting a little old to haul around the heavy stuff. Not always, but the majority of the time that stuff stays at home in my studio and I'll take the Blues Jr. and G-K. My back appreciates it.

Bassist, primarily in church-based groups, since 1970. Mostly in MA, TX and FL. Some touring. Played styles ranging from Folk to Gospel to Rock to Country to Jazz. Most instruments and amps were church-owned and I never saw a need to keep track of brands and models, so I didn't. Lots of good stuff, though. I don't play much at all any more. Recent medical issues keep me from being committed full-time anywhere, which has also translated into far less practice time than I used to get into. I play around with web sites instead now. Still have a Fender J and a Hofner 500/1 plus an American Deluxe Strat and a few odds'n'ends, including a Line 6 PODXT Live with all the model packs, a fairly decent drum machine, a cheap keyboard, a cheap Portastudio and some recording software. Someday God may lead me back to it (playing). I can really get into a groove if I sit down with my J, headphones and some mp3s to play along with.
