Anybody try one of these yet?

I'm pretty sold on the quality of the PX4G Pandora's crunch models (as this unit should sound no different and Korg has got some slammin crunch models going on), but how about the clean models?

I also understand that for the most part, modelers are setup to be used thru a full range sys (ie PA); but in this case Korg has chosen to give you 3 or 4 options- one setting is the usual "direct" or console output; but three output settings are optimized for use w/guitar amps (YES!!) and this feature has my FULL attention and curiosity.

Anybody?

Anybody?

The non FRFR modes most likely disable the cabinet/mic modeling. In some cases that's good - in my experience it ALWAYS ends up making the preamps buzzy, fizzy and shrill.

I forgot that I actually started this whole modeling craze way back with a PX4. I loved that little blue box. Lots of fun.

FYI... FRFR = Flat Response, Full Range.

kewl they have three 'amp modes' for output: small combo, open back, and closed back 4x12 (IIRC); plus the FRFR output. The three former are obviously designated for the particular rig you use, and you either run it into the front end of a clean amp, of the "power amp in" of your amp (if you have it) .

In the particular review I read about it (at MF) the reviewer ran it into the fx loop return (again, IIRC) of a "canadian combo", probably a Traynor; with very favorable results. I'm pretty confident I can make this work for my requirements- I'm just in the dark about the clean tones of this unit.

I'm trying to hold off on buying my forthcoming new TC Electronics G-Force at this time, due to the fact that I have about $1k of tree trimming I need to pay for in about two weeks. (one of the minuses of home ownership)

Arrrgg...
