Do any of you guys know what guitar amps/guitars where you used on Casting Crowns CD? Mainly the distortion sound on songs like, 'What if His People prayed', 'Voice of Truth', 'American Dream', etc. It comes across sounding nonmetal yet has that ummph to it. Thanks, =j

When I saw them in concert, the lead guitarist used a Strat and a Gibson SG Standard. His tones on the 3 songs you mention could be replicated with either guitar, depending of the rig used.

BTW, their drummer is VERY GOOD and just about my favorite percussionist among CCM artists.

Thanks PG. I actually have a Strat and SG so that is good to know! I imagine a new LineSix amp should be able to replicate that sound. They seem pretty versatile. Did you see their Live DVD in Atlanta? Perhaps the drummer played some 'embellishments'. You may want to check that out. blessings, =j

I got a laugh out of the video for "American Dream"; the second guitarist, who switches between acoustic and a Tele, is playing a Tele in the video but when they switch to the scenes in tte rain, he is playing a Strat (looks to be a Squier). The lead guy is playing a LP most of the time on their live DVD if memory serves me correctly.

I don't know either. There is definately a lot of buzzy sustain like some metal pedals.

Perhaps you can ask that question directly to the band members on this forum:
