I haven't seen this on hear yet (sorry if I missed it). I noticed a number of questions about alternate base voicings of chords and though I would through in my favorite chord shape.
It is based on an open D chord and sounds crystal clear when over driven.
E Chord
E A D G B E
__________
0 2 2 4 5 0
This lacks the 3rd but it can be added by adding second fret on the 1st string
Also this allows the form to be moved like a power chord
E A D G B E
__________
X 0 2 4 5 X
The reason this is so nice is that it lets the electric sit above the mix a little when using this for chords further up the neck
Also the position of the pinky (on B-string) makes it easy to drop to the major 7 for the 8-7-5 sound so common in CCM.
One of the best advantages is the ease of doing alternate bass notes with this movable form.
E/B
E A D G B E
__________
X 2 2 4 5 X
E/C#
E A D G B E
__________
X 4 2 4 5 X
E/F#
E A D G B E
__________
2 2 2 4 5 X
E/G#
E A D G B E
__________
4 2 2 4 5 X
Ect...
and of course this can be moved all over the neck to achieve these chords in any key. I would say this form makes up over 50% of my rhythm electric chords (works great with .8th delay).
Best way to cement this one in your fingers is to learn Crash by Dave Matthews.
