Stephen:

I think you missed the point of the first line. jony is a new member, who had contacted Nigel Hendroff. Nigel responded with this great list of gear. I've seen Nigel on a Hillsongs video, he does have some great gear and really knows how to use it effectively.

I'm going to edit jony's post and show Nigel's reply as a quote. This sould limit the confusion.

Thanks for sharing jony. That is what makes this forum so rich in information.

I "corresponded" with David Moyse years ago. On those first couple of classic Hillsongs albums, he used A Strat, a Tele, Carl Martin Chorus and a Vox AC30. That's what yo hear on Shout To The Lord and All Thing Are Possible.

David Was the guitarist for Air Supply prior to becoming the guitarist on those albums. He was quite instrumental in establishing that famous Hillsongs sound.

 Thanks for clarifying for me Roger, I had assumed that he was talking about his own gear! Made it sound like he had his own guitar shop!!!!

I don't know. On some of their cd's the mix is REALLY noisy. Especially the United (youth) cd's.

Then it's very difficult to discern what's really going on in the song.

Also, I find that they use octave leads WAY too much.

Great church, great music ministry, great songwriters, and a blessing to worship leaders worldwide.

But I really don't like how they mix their music.

BTW, our church does ALOT of their tunes, especially the ones from United (Joel Houston and Marty Sampson). If I never learn another song in the key of B, I won't miss it.

Back on topic: I know a couple of people who are at Hillsong's school. They speak very highly of Nigel, and his response to your email demonstrates his character. Sounds like a great guy.

Yes, they do. We play a lot of their stuff also. I wish they did more studio recordings so we could really hear what's goin' on, all those live ones are just, well, live recordings, y'know what I mean?

Do the songs in B lose their power if you take them down to A?

Yeap they do... the major fourth(E) when brought down to A is (D). played on the guitar. they sound different.. I scored a 7 string not too long ago. problem solved
