so, I gotta text on friday night while I was at work. Asking if I would cover for a guy sunday morning on bass, even tho I knew I'd be working sat night as well and have little time to practice I said yes. Cause I'm going through a little stage right now where I am really enjoying playing bass.

So I looked over our song list... guess what song number two was?
salvation is here - hillsong united...
I had about an hour sat afternoon to go over it a few times, and this morning with only 2 hours of sleep I made it through it on stage... I couldn't keep the 16th notes going through the whole thing... but I had all the notes right, and with hammer on's it sounded pretty close.

I thought I'd feel more intimidated... maybe it was the lack of sleep but I felt very relaxed while doing it, unlike guitar solo's, which while fun, I always get a little anxious over. That's also part of the fun, the rush and excitement.

this was so different it was worth mentioning...
anyone else ever feel like this?

Amen.

I haven't played bass in quite awhile. I went through a period of 3 or so years that I would play about twice per year. Invariably, that song would be on the list. And Tell the World.

I literally get goosebumps and feel very relaxed every time I play bass. But then, after about 40 years of playing, that's not really unusual.

It seems like God was with you that morning, my brother.

I seem to get called back to bass after a long layoff the weekend we play Shelter House.

Yeah, usually I nail that, but then completely fall apart on some easy thing. Go figure. I think it is God keeping me humble...
