Well I haven't yet been in a setting with this new capo where I've had to get it placed quickly and still be in tune with the rest of the band, but I gotta say... from what I can tell just sitting here in my office, this thing is pretty sweet!

The tension adjusts in like microscopic increments, and you give it a quick squeeze with just your thumb and index finger and it's set. It gets the right tension anywhere on the fretboard. It's tight enough to not get buzz, but it doesn't squish the strings all the way down so it doesn't appear to pull the guitar out of tune. But like I said, I haven't been with the band yet.

The rubber bar that comes down on the strings is not one solid piece; it has two strips going across the strings with a hollow place in the middle. I don't know if that's a part of the function or if it's just to look really cool.

I'm really liking this thing so far except since it cost me $39.95 so I'll have to borrow an engraver and engrave my name on it. :-)

I would say if you like your Shubb, you probably would be fine just sticking with that as long as you take care with adjusting the tension. But I like this one better because it's easier to use when I need to move quickly, and I can also turn it around and use it as a drop-D, which I don't have much luck with for the Shubb. (I can never find my drop-D capo when I need it.) I can also easily clip it onto the headstock when I'm not using it.

Besides, it looks really sensuous too.

Best. Capo. Ever.

Seriously, I've been using one for awhile. It's the best I've used, especially on my electrics - it does not throw the intonation all out, and I usually don't have to adjust much after putting it on, as I have with other capos. Easy to get on/off also. Price, but if you have fought with capos, especially on electrics, totally worth it.

Works great on acoustic also. I saw some dude named Clapton using one. He seems to like it too.

Pusher. (snicker...) I've been looking at those for awhile, but heard nothing I'd call credible about them that I'd trust. Now I have. "OH Honey...."

I have both the 6 string & 12 string version.

I love the 6 but the 12 I have to squeeze really hard to keep the buzz out of the octave strings.

For the 12 string I still use my Shubb.

I use the 6 string a lot with the worship band. We do a lot of 1/2 step modulations and it is easier than playing the other chords,(C#, D#, G#,etc).

Hey Kitty, good post and many positive responses. These guys here must know something about capos, eh?

This is my first look at it, must have had my head in the sand, and been stuck on Kyser too.

Now that's a capo. It looks great, fantastic performance features, design, adjustability.

And you got it, it looks just awesome! Sleek!:yeah:

Very interesting.:)

I have a BETTER solution... (sort of...) I use multiple guitars! This has MANY advantages! (note the hint of sarcasm here...) I can make an excuse for using multiple guitars... I think I look like a rock star when I bring in multiple guitars... After all, it is all about how good you look doing it after all...

In all seriousness, it seems to me like some guitars are more sensitive to capos than others... One of my acoustics seems to have a terrific setup with great low action that is barely effected by the capo regardless of brand, tension, etc. I wonder if it has something to do with the nut or smaller frets, etc. Either way, it just rarely gets out of tune unless I apply the capo with some sideways "pull" on the strings...

My other main acoustic is a different story... The action is quite high and it has much bigger frets and can't hardly seem to take a capo at all. It also is much more sensitive to how hard you squeeze the strings on chords as well... The funny thing is that I end up using a capo a LOT more on that guitar... It just sounds terrific with a capo for some reason... I've thought about adjusting the action some BUT really like the higher action for slide playing (which I don't do often or well)... Additionally, once I have it set with a capo, it plays really nice... At any rate, I use one of two methods with that guitar... 1) Clamp the snot out of it using a Shubb, re-tune and then leave it set like that for the whole service, etc. 2) I use a "Glider" capo. http://www.glidercapo.com/ I had mixed results with it when I first got it and didn't really like it, HOWEVER, my second acoustic has a quite thick neck meaning that the tension is really high... ...too high if you plan on taking it off and on... But, like the Shubb, I slap it on and retune... As long as I don't take it off, I can "roll" it up and down the neck and stay in tune perfectly... The tension stays nice and even because there are springs on both sides... It is a bit cumbersome to put on and take off, but since I can't put it off and on without re-tuning anyway, it is a non issue...

Point is, I believe that some guitars are far more sensitive to capo pressure than others... (can you say jumbo frets?)

My P&W Team Leader was a die-hard Kyser user. He wont use anything other than the G7 on his Taylor now.

Capos. I've tried a lot of them. On another forum I'm known as "The Capo Guy".

Most of them work fine. I bought the G7 after this picture was taken. I use it the most. The Planet Waves NS is not bad and the Paige works good also. Shubb is the best for the money.

I have not figured out how to capo this one.
