You guys have been great about welcoming me here. I wanted to say thanks to all of you. :-)
This is from another thread:
OOO!
Cutaway acoustic!
Looks like a good one.
Welcome, Kitty.
If you mean the one in my picture, that's my spare guitar, a Dean. These days I'm playing a Martin DC1E (dreadnought cutaway model 1 with Fishman pickup). Mahogany sides, solid spruce top... very mellow and woody sound. Lots of bass response.
Since I live in Colorado I simply MUST be more diligent about humidifying my guitars... been a little sloppy about that lately. In fact, I'd like you guys to nag me about that. :-)
I probably won't show up much over in the "Gear" categories but I could talk about worship stuff all day.
Anyway, thanks for the welcome and nice to meet you.

I lived in Colorado.
My acoustic guitar sounded good there, but a good Martin deserves to be kept in its comfort zone. I always thought Colorado tended towards dry.
Here in Santa Cruz, it tends towards humid and I forget all about it until I travel.

Methodists just sprinkle.
That came about from fully immersing accordians that were still plugged in.

Some accordians you really have to hold under awhile, too, just to make sure the baptism really takes! \:D/ :-)

Hey Kitty, "Got Humidifier?", "Can You Humidify Now? Good!", "Less Dry, All the humidity". "Humidifiers go in, before the dryness gets out!", "our humidifiers are gauranteed to keep them geetars from dryin out. I'm Tom Modele, and we'll leave the light on for ya!"

Ok, guys... TOMORROW.... tomorrow I'm going to go buy another guitar humidifier because I can't find my other one anywhere. AND I'm going to get this big humidifier in my office back in working order because my guitars are often hanging on the wall where I can pick them up anytime I want for a few minutes.
You guys are all beautiful. :-)
(and very entertaining)

If I hung my guitars on the walls the termites would eat 'em!
If fact any more termites move in here have to bring their own wood. :-s

This is an old thread, but since I am new, its all new to me!
Kitty,
I live in Colorado, and my acoustics are locked into 60% humidity full time or bad things start to happen. Specifically with Taylors which tend to react to temp and humidity changes worse than others. I use the simplest humidifier in the book, ...
http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics/products/42/421904.jpg
...and don't tend to have any problems at all. Its just a sponge in a rubber gasket that pops into the sound hole. With all guitars, you can humidify too much. This will cause swelling on the top sheet, and neck warp. I know alot of folks that never humidify guitars in Colorado, and they seem to do fine, but this is typically with cheapo guitars that have plywood for tops and lean against the wall rather than being held in an adequate case.

Welp,
I sure do play it a lot more when it's leaning against a wall instead of packed away in a case! \:D/

I stick my crap laminate one on the stand and have my Taylor and Fenders in their cases where they should be...some day when I get a place of my own and have money i'd like to get a humidiy controlled glass wall case for them, but that's far off :-)

I hear that!
My Art&Lutherie solid cedar topped dread I keep handy (the weather here is ideal for guitars).
I was going to get back to something higher end later on, but dang if this $185 gitbox doesn't sound lively and responsive!
I thought I wanted a Larrivee or Martin, but I've changed my mind. \:D/
