Tomorrow I will be attempting to play "Way Of The Cross" with a short cut capo. Never played a song with that thing. It's been sitting in my case forever. Today while practicing for the morning I began to notice the song is begging for a droning sound. So I decided to give it a try. I googled the chords for the capo and ran through the song with relative ease. AND the capo does not get in the way of the acoustic intro lick at all.

We'll see how it goes. The recording I have is not the same key we will be playing so I can't tell what it's going to sound like with the rest of the band. It will be interesting to see what everyone else thinks about the sound.

It worked..........:yeah:

I asked everyone before rehearsal to listen and let me know. Everyone went right along with it. Added a cool voice to that song. Can't wait to do it again second service.

Glad it worked out for you. I greatly enjoy using altered tunings, capos, cut capos, etc when playing with a second guitar player. It really adds a nice spice or flavor using different voicings.

Sort of off the subject, but one of my best friends and brother in the Lord is left handed. He learned to play by flipping a right handed guitar upside down so the high E and low E are reversed. His chord voicings are so unique. It's like having an altered tuned guitar in the mix!

We have played in various bands together for 30 some years, so it's a blessing that we are able to join together in worship every Sunday.

After 1st service we all huddled around the iMac and listened to the recording. Big props to the sound guy on the record board, he nailed the mix pretty much. I listened to my acoustic on that song and it seemed like I could have played with more confidence and attacked the strings with a bit more umph! I am the loudest setting in my ears on my Aviom so it seems like I needed to play soft, but then you listen to the mix and you can barely hear it. So second service I dug a little deeper. I'm really interested in hearing what it sounds like the second time around. Playing with a little more confidence seemed to flow better and I'm pretty sure the timing was better along with the click track.

Plus I think the time we spent Tuesday on the EQ on the record and FOH board helped sweeten the tone alot.

I've used the cut capo a couple of times. But we are usually in keys where using one requires me to use two capos, a regular one and the cut capo. Kind of a pain, though it does give a unique voice.

Glad it worked out for you.

I saw in a couple of videos a double capo...........

I'm working on the intro for My Savior, My God. Capo on 5 and short short capo on 7.

Here's the video..... as I listen I'm thinking the guitar section needed some more power the second time through. Not much difference from the end of the second and the beginning. I would have liked to have had a tad more acoustic in the mix on the chorus. You really have to listen hard to hear it.
