I think the story of how I got my guitar can really show how God is in control of the things that seem so little to us.
Here goes:
I'm a musician in many ways. I sang bass in choir, did sang in church several times for special music, and I had already learned Trumpet, Tuba, Drums, and Kazoo.(Go Marching Kazooists!)
However, when I to college, I stopped most of my musical activities. I knew that since I was called to ministry via evangelism, I would need to cut some things out to focus on the call God had given me. I decided that I would stop playing my instruments for any kind of performances, and only participate in the school choir.
As is often the case, God had a different plan. The Professor in charge of choir was horrible, and God made i clear that I was not to be in choir either. However, God did not tell me to stop singing. I knew he had given me this gift, so I needed to find a way to use it. So I prayed about it, and I felt God telling me to start learning guitar.
So, While I was home on Christmas Break, I went guitar shopping with my youth director. He plays guitar for the church, and so I figure he'd be a good person to go with.
While trying out guitars, my youth director noticed that I was struggling to grip the guitar right handed, and that when I sat to play I would always have the righty guitars turned the wrong way. Obviously, I wasn't a righty.
As many guitarists know, lefty's can have a very hard time finding a good guitar, and it can be even worse for beginners. This remained true with me, and I was on a budget too (as any college student would be  ). We looked around the section I could afford for a half hour and there was not a single lefty. We Asked the sales clerk if he knew of any lefty's in my price range, and he replied with a negative. Now what?
Well, for most things I'm ambidexterous, so I figure I'd just have to learn righty. Here's when God really took control of the situation.
So we went back the area where the affordable guitars were, but not before my youth director had a chance to go and look at the electrics. As it would happen, by the electic guitars, they had the used guitars. On The floor was a Lefty Fender, that was practically brand new. Not only was it there, but it was only priced at $130. What a steal. Not only was I able to afford the guitar, but I was able to buy a case and a great beginners book at $10 under what I had budgeted.
I knew that God didn't want me to stop singing, and as I said He made it clear that I should at least learn how to play the guitar. Even though it isn't a life changing event, God still was shinning bright as the Sun.
