The forum will be upgraded to the most recent stable version of vBulletin 3.8.x in the next few days. Upon successful completion, the portal will be re-added. I will be performing some necessary preventive maintenance on the system as well.
The forum will be taken "offline" and be unavailable at times in order to get things done. We will do our best to minimize downtime. Please just be aware of this possibility, effective until I announce that it's complete.
Please use this thread for any related questions or issues.
Thanks & God Bless!
Barry

vBulletin upgrade complete. There are no new features (just security patches and the like), so you shouldn't notice any difference, but let us know if you do.
I'll re-add the portal soon.

For some reason I have to log on every time I open the site. I have changed to link in my favorites. What's up with that?

For some reason I have to log on every time I open the site. I have changed to link in my favorites. What's up with that?
Well, let me throw a few things at you and we'll take it from there...
First, if you check the "remember me" box at login, the system will remember you the next time you visit (if closing the browser when you're done). I've tested this between yesterday and today and it's still working. (I don't normally use the function because I prefer to log in each time.)
There's a condition to the above, however, and it relates to security. If you leave your browser window open, your session will expire after 60 minutes of inactivity. At that point, you'll have to log in again, regardless of your "remember me" setting. (I haven't actually tested this, but it's my understanding that that's how it works.)
Another possibility could have something to do with changes that may have occurred on your own computer. Additional/upgraded security software or changed settings that have an impact on cookies.
Or maybe the cookie is corrupt on your computer:
To clear the cookie in Firefox, open Tools | Options | Privacy | Show Cookies then highlight the gpawf4christ.com entry and click "remove cookies". Close the tools dialog. When you log in again, it'll rebuild the cookie.
For IE, open Windows Explorer, navigate to Documents and Settings | <your_windows_login_name> | Cookies then delete <your_windows_login_name>@gpawf4christ.com
Close Explorer. It'll get rebuilt the next time you log into the board.
What does that mean: "changed to link in my favorites"?

I don't mind logging in that's normal for me using Firefox and clearing cookies ALWAYS... but if mods have to clear all posts why the captcha? THAT thing is a PAIN. I've been readin' all I can find here but saw no answer... maybe I missed it. thnx. also... COOL SITE. Carl.

Carl, the first few posts by a new member are modded (three, I think). Then you automatically get moved over to being able to post freely.
CAPTCHA defeats a lot of the spambots, but holding a member's first posts has been the only effective way to keep porn off the board.
Welcome. :)
