I'm a rookie Guitarist, and I was wondering what you all think about fenders. I have a 220, which I got used(almost brand new).

Welcome aboard! I am a big fan of Fender Telecasters and Stratocasters. I have no idea what a 220 is...

a little more info, please?

You'll find lots of good players here who can offer lots of good ideas. But Fender is almost always a good idea!

I'm not exactly sure what the model may be. All I know is that the sales tag at the Guitar shop said it was a Fender 220. I went shoppin with the YouthLeader at my church, and he said it was a pretty good guitar. I trust him, because he plays guitar for our praise and worship team.

Thanks for the welcome, wally.

Not sure what ID number 220 stands for, but Fender is probably the biggest name in solidbody electrics.
They feature bolt-on maple necks, which are strong and can take being knocked around some. Many mahogany necked guitars (say, Gibson), will break off the headstock if dropped or knocked over.
I think Fender (and Fender style guitars made by many other manufacturers) stay in tune better and sound better than many other electric guitar designs.
They offer guitars in any price range you can think of, but if they say Fender on them, the resale is much better when you go to sell.

Is this an acoustic we are referring to by any chance? I saw reference to an F220SB acoustic on the Fender website, as well as an R220 Regal acoustic. If it is the F220SB acoustic, they were made sold in the 80's.

It's an acoustic. The label in the guitar says the Model is an F-210LH. That's about all I know.

That explains it - when you say Fender around here, we all think electric! If it is easy to chord and stays in tune, it should be a good one to learn on.

Disregard my post please!
I know nothing about Fender acoustics (or anybody else's hardly).

Fender electrics are very good guitars. BTW welcome. Fender has a wide array of electrics to choose from - from low budget to high end custom items. \:D/

Here's a the HC reviews:
http://208.184.92.27/Guitar/Data4/Fender/F_210LH-01.html

I also see a few reviews elsewhere that suggest the F210 is a good, reliable, low-priced acoustic.

Hope that helps. Welcome to GPAWF.

Well, all it really shows is that there's a good guitar acoustic guitar out there, made by Fender, and you knew about it before the rest of us. We still need more data to decide if you're crazy or not. :crazy

Crazy like that is good!

Why should I pay lots of money to an analyst so I can conform to a far from healthy society? :angel

One of the studios here has an old Fender acoustic. The owner says that it spent some time in a wet basement. The finish looks horrible, especially on the back, which it's all cloudy. There's a hole in the side of it that is covered with duct tape. But the microphone absolutely loves that guitar. I've recorded with it, and it sounds amazing.

Look at that old decrepid beast Willie Nelson uses... live no less. It looks like it went through a tsunami and rotted for 200 years. :dunno

..... I know the Fender acoustics have been subjected to quite some beating on diffrent forums. Fender= Electrics by many guitarists. I tend to agree that compared to Taylors, Seagulls, Larrivees, Lakewoods, Wechters and so on, the Fenders haven't been quite there. HOWEVER, there are a lot of good mid prices acoustics that any newbie, weekend player and mid advanced player should be able to enjoy. I actually keep a Telecoustic (yes made in china) with me on the road as a quick access practice guitar in the tour buss, on the hotel or backstage if we need to practice something then and there. It stays in tune and once adjusted it aint half bad to play on.
