Anyone own or have any experience with one of these? I'd be interested in your thoughts. They have always looked interesting to me, and now Musician's Friend and American Musical Supply are both carrying Godin's online. I have made my last few purchases from AMS, due to their "3 easy payments" option. :-)

I've been on a P90 hunt for some time (keep getting distracted) and played one quite a bit early last year. Godin necks are "Taylor-like" which appeals to me and the tone of the Duncan P90s is excellent. The LG is a great value as is the PRS SE. Make sure to play both before deciding. In the end I became smitten with the LGX-SA so still have a P90 sized hole in my crayon box ;)

I posted earlier about the PRS SE II. I actually like the look of it better, and of course the price (got one price quote of $399).... but I can't understand the black plastic nut. :dunno

I have a couple of Seagulls, so I am familiar with LaSiDo's quality and would expect the same w/ their Godin line.

So... which did you like better?

Preferred the Godin neck. Tones were comparable.

I've been getting obsessed with the sound of P-90s recently, and I've been eying and playing and listening as many P-90 equipped guitars as I've been able... The best have been the Godin LG, the PRS SEII, the Squier Tele Custom II, and the biggest disappointment the Fender TC-90 Thinline.

I've come to some conclusions. Well tentative conclusions anyway...

P-90s need mahogany to sound their best. The ash body on the lovely, light, chambered TC-90 (a delight to the hands) just doesn't bring out the best in them. The far cheaper Squier sounds better because agathis sounds more like mahogany than any other wood (one reason I like the Squier Standard Tele so much) even though it only has Duncan-Designed pups as against the TC-90's genuine Seymours (vintage at the neck, Custom 3B at the bridge). But you can only get the Squier Custom II with a maple fingerboard, and the extra brightness (as well as the feel) just (only just) spoils it for me.

The PRS is good, very good, and looks lovely (the moon inlays are really neat) esp in vinatge cherry. But the undoubted star is the Godin. It feels like a Les Paul Studio Smartwood to hold, so all-of-a-piece and natural, standing or sitting. The neck is just unbelievable, the best non-Tele neck I've played (and I normally don't really go for shortscale necks, even though I played an SG for years), the finish is custom-shop standard, but the sound. At last the P-90 has found a home to rival the old LP Junior! Solid mahogany body, mahogany neck (lovely rosewood board) but bolt on. The sustain will become a legend, I've no doubt. Now I can't wait for Christmas!
