Hey all - I just saw this website and thought it was pretty cool. It has some info on stuff like the Hughes & Kettner Red Box, Palmer PDI, and Behringer Ultra-G. It includes typical setup/use info, a blind audio test, comparative samples, EQ graphs, etc. etc. Pretty cool! Check it out here:

I have used my Ultra G along with a mic'd cab and it adds some different tonality to the equation. I still can;t get myself to record direct only.

I was caught off guard by this answer... I thought you just switched from pedals back to a MFX unit... You must still be running these into an amp then?

Recording I use a guitar plugged into an amp and all fx are added in the mixing stage. I'm using my GSP 1101 as a FX processor only. No amp or cab sims for live.

The Engl Preamp 530 sounded the best to me on the blindfold test page.
