Hey Rev!
Good job on the new song. Didn't expect it at church so quickly... but there it was! 8)
I couldn't hear your guitar very well at all though  The mix was off or something was amiss. You were too low in the mix...drowned out. The vocalists did a nice job though - and that's the big deal - the message.
Anyway - grats on the new song. Praise the Lord for it :D

Thanks Kewl
I was real pleased with the strength and confidence of the singers. The instruments were not as tight as I had hoped. But hey, the drummer, the acoustic guitarist and the bass player had just heard that song for the first time that same morning. It was just the keyboardist and me at rehearsal on Thursday.
One reason that you could not hear my guitar, I was nevous and holding back. When the drummer missed his queue to come in on the 4th count, it blew my confidence a bit. I also don't know what it sounds like to the audience from my vantage point. Plus, I did not want everyone to look at my guitar kick-off as a show-off presentation (at least not yet  ).
You are correct about the words being the important part of the song's message. One of the college guys came up to me at the end of that song, and said that he could totally relate to the message of the song. He had fallen away and he was now returning to know God. He said that song spoke directly to his heart. That is what I want to do when I write songs. I want the music to be interesting enough to get your attention, but I want the message to be understood and felt. I want to be a Bruce Springstien type songwriter with a Christian message (Bruce being able to effectively relate to the common-man through his lyrics).
A lot of folks just sat and listened during the verses (a good thing). Then they quickly got into the simple but meaningful chorus of the song and they sang along with vigor (also a good thing).
The keyboardist will select songs for this week. I bet that she will include "I Resurrect My Love" into the set (that is typical when we introduce new songs).
BTW, I suggest that you contact her and ask if you can help out on some songs for this week. She knows that the JaM team is going to be segmented this week. Come join the main assembly for a change! I will gladly sit out this coming Sunday.

Gotta love the glitch-factor. Always goofs me up too. When something unexpected happens like that (drummer seriously missing a beat or somethin') My brain will frequently go off on some thought unrelated to what I'm playing and I goof...
I hate that. :x Guess I just need more practice!
As far as playing in the main P/W... My wife and I just scheduled a one-on-one Bible study with another couple. They have lots of questions and I had offered to study with them a while back. This is gonna be on Thursday nights, so my Thurs evenings just got blocked again.
Oh well - Bible Studies are the greater need in this situation.
Play on!
