I've been trying for a while to find a way to say this:

This is better than I could do it!

I work for the publisher, found this on our home page today.

Thanks, for posting that, Peter.

I can see myself saying to worship pastor this weekend... "When I go out there, I'm taking my shoes off. For the place I'll be standing on will be holy ground.

Praise God

Good article! I think one of the things that has been a "bur in the saddle" of a lot of pastors critical of "praise and worship" music is the fact that to many folks, "worship" is now synonomous w/ music (instead of the whole of what we do when we gather together as believers).

I'm in the inside sales department selling magazines to pastors. I'm not very good at sales so my primary role is customer service and managing improving the database system we use. No matter how hard I try to get away from IT functions I can't seem to do it.

Great article! These two quotes really get to the heart of the matter:

".....Søren Kierkegaard once said that we treat worship as if the pastor and choir are the actors and the congregation the audience; instead, God should be the audience, the pastor and choir the prompters, and the congregation the true participants. ......"

[Worship] is best summed up in Ephesians 5:10, which says, "Find out what pleases the Lord." If you're talking about music, you want to bring an offering that is going to please him and obviously he is not worried about the music, what style it is or if you're playing in time and stuff. When you pour out your heart with the music and you back it up with your life, that is probably the heart of worship.

Thanks for sharing that with us Peter.

Well, tonight at worship I didn't take off my shoes but, something wonderful happened.

I've been thinking of this article ever since I read it. Tonight before the service, the worship team prayed together in the choir room before the service as usual. At my turn I said, "Father, we don't come here to sing. We don't come here to play our instruments. We come to worship You. May our attention be on You alone and may the congregation feel free to participate." Everyone broke out into "Amen!" and "Hallelujah!" Very unusual thinn for a humble Gator's prayer.

During worship, we ended songs as planned. But worship pastor kept singing song endings softly. We would fade back in, breaking out into Spirit led worship! This happened twice and has never happened before in our church. Praise You Father in heaven!!

To chip in with what has all been said, our lives are supposed to be acts of worship.

Another amen. It's not the music, it's our hearts.
