Greetings,

Since I cannot respond to threads in a timely fashion or answer PM messages, I will ask my questions here.

1. Why cannot I answer/reply to a forum posting within at least 5 hours of posting it. The board tells me that my post must be approved for listing before it is visible. Is this standard operating procedure on this site?

2. I was sent a PM by "Stephen" and I wanted to thank him for his letter and for welcoming me to the board. Lo and behold, there is no reply button...

3. I can't respond to a thread or send a PM, but I can start a new thread!?!?!
Bizarre....

I question my ability to participate in this online forum given the challenging paths that have been laid out before me.

V/R,

Hey,

Posts from newly registered members are held back for a moderator to approve them. Best way we've found for keeping porn off the boards, and believe me, it was getting bad before Stephen and Barry set up this way of keeping it out.

After a certain number of approved posts (I can't remember how many but I'm sure you've reached the quota by now), you're moved to a member group that no longer requires your posts to be approved, AND you'll be able to write and answer PM's and everything else.

Again, welcome!

Kitty

Yep! Like Kitty said, all new registrars have to go through having their first few posts being moderated.

It may be a bit inconvenient, and I wish we didnt have to do it, but like she said, we were absolutely hammered by porn spammers, and let me tell you, its difficult when you trying to lift up the name of Jesus, and there's post of a nasty video embedded in the thread.

This is way better, and that is all now history!

So once again, welcome to the forum. Glad you found us!

Hey, welcome to the forum. I see you're at 5 posts now, I think we set it to where your first three posts are moderated before we set you loose. There are 4-5 moderators that are lounging around so we try to approve as quickly as possible, but we don't always get there right away. As Kitty said, before we implemented this new procedure we were getting hit by spammers left and right. Even now there's still 2 or 3 new "members" each week who try and join just to spam.

Again, welcome to the forum, feel free to join in on any of the conversations taking place now.

Detman, welcome.

We all go through it. No biggie, and it is actually explained in the FAQs. Soon, perhaps already, you will have full and immediate access. Look forward to your participation.

MusicChad...talk of spam makes you hungry? It usually suppresses my appetite....rofl

Makes me think of Monty Python.

Customer: "Id like a spam sandwich, spam with a side of spam, hash browned spam, with spam, another side of Spam, and what other sides do you have?"

Counter person: "Let em see...... Uh, spam."

Customer: "Yes I'll have that"

Thank you for the kind explanation and the warm welcome. I look forward to participating in a more normal fashion soon. I fully understand the need for protection. Spammers are annoying and porn is the last thing that needs to be seen here.

God bless,
Dm
