Bought myself a UX1 for Father's Day yesterday.

Initial impression, is - easy to use, some great clean, semi dirty, and smooth OD sounds. Not a good heavy sound, that isn't too mushy, buzzy, or flabby. yet. There's still Amplifier add on packs ($50) to buy, and an effect add on.

Cool drum program, riffworks. I'll do some recording over the weekend (hopefully) and see how it all works together.

For $169 (Canadian) it seems like a pretty worthy purchase.

Those are cool. When I was traveling a lot, I tried one of the original one input devices from Line 6 (the guitar port - somewhat different, I know). Unfortunately, neither laptop I traveled with liked it much (worked with my desk top fine). Since I intended it for travel, it took it back and haven't had a need for one since.

The do get you with the add on packs, however.

If I were traveling a lot now, I think I might try one of those.

I have a kb37 toneport...
works great... my software package came with almost all of the add ons. so I never bought any more...
the only one worth buying is the vst plug in as far as I'm concerned....
all my vocals and guitars are recorded through it...

Well, I've spent a little time with this now.

I'm using it for home headphones fun - so my impressions are based on that.

The Ableton could be better/deeper - but is very serviceable for a recording program. Amp Farm is GREAT - and gives you almost endless guitar tones. PLUS - I haven't downloaded any of the extra amplifiers, or effects that one can.

Don't know about any of the vocal stuff - because I don't own a mic! (which is probably a blessing to the world) lol

I have achieved some great tones out of this thing, from clean, to bluesy to heavy. Here's a few clips:

A two amp, heavy sound:

A cleaner, acoustic plus lead thing:

All around, a lot of fun for fiddling around with at home. Plus it was only 169!

Thanks!

It's hard finding a sound that isn't mushy or buzzy. I suppose trying to sound like an album - where they have 30 guitar tracks, run through thousands of dollars worth of compressors, limiters, eq's etc. is pretty fruitless too. Or trying to replicate what a good amp, and cabinet thump will give you.

But the articulation for heavy palm muting is what I like about that particular sound.

I like your heavy riff... sounds good... now you need some drums in there...lol

lol

I couldn't even imagine trying to program drums. There's gotta be an easy program out there fro rhythmically and computer challenged people like me.

Ya know, I'd like to hear you and Micter doin some heavy stuff together: He plays a pretty mean 7 string, and he's got some really cool odd time signature riffs too. Very heavy.

I'm in! We all should actually be writing together more.

We should put together ideas. I have some that need help. Okay - all my songs/riffs need help! lol

Addictive drums looks cool. But you need some midi trigger thing? I just need to find some electronic drums, and a drummer. Feed him some twinkies or something to play.

no midi thing required...
it takes about an hour to set up a whole song, with fills and breaks...
or you can just modify existing beats
