For you Dallas area folks, where do you go to get your guitars setup? Who do you trust for acoustic and/or electric? How much does it cost?
My Seagull hasn't been setup since I moved here, and it's in need of one. I also want to remove the piezo pickup under the bridge, but I want to keep the same great action and playability that it currently has.
I am thinking about getting my tele set up for slide in open D with a higher action. Also, I am starting to get microphonic feedback (the bad kind) from the pickups, so I want to either get them repotted or replace them. It is a Nashville tele with a strat pup in the middle, all Tex-Mex pups. Any thoughts or advice on repotting vs. replacing?

I do not have any solid recommendations since I do a lot of my own work these days (not the best work, but my labor is free to me).
I have developed a friendship with Gary over at the Richardson Guitar Shop on Beltline. Kewlpack has taken his guitar to him several times. But I cannot confirm the depth of his knowledge or the extent of his quality.
They are a very small independent shop that could use income any way they can get it. I'm sure that Gary would work hard to earn and keep your business.

Always do my own setups, so no recommendations, sorry.
I've waxed a set of Tele pups, and the result was non-microphonic but still noisy single-coil pups. Then went to a Lace set for Tele that was noiseless but sterile, no joy. Then found this guy http://www.kinman.com/. Noiseless, highly complex tone, as close to vintage as you can get, imo. End of search.

Hmmm well I have had good results with Gary at The Guitar Shop (on Beltline, near Plano Road, in Richardson). Their prices are reasonable (I felt they were) and they are quick (or VERY quick... $25 upcharge for same day work).
I want to get my Parker setup to spec too. Right now, I have some fret buzz down around the 2-4 frets on the high strings and a little open buzz on the bass strings... I've tried to set it all up myself - even tweaked the truss rod (I hate doing that)... but I just can't seem to get the action LOW and buzz free across the board...
I took the guitar to Gary and asked him to setup the action - well all he did was raise the bass side of the bridge A LOT (it looked cockeyed)... so that wasn't what I wanted - high action - bleh... I need to find a Parker certified shop. I want it setup to factory spec.
Anyway - Gary does good work just the same - had him do pickup replacements (and wiring repair), install locking tuners, etc. Good results.
