Outages possible within the next 48 hours

Word from the webhost: tests on the new server have gone well. They should start moving things around within the next 24 to 48 hours. They dont anticipate down time to be more than 15 minutes.

So any time Saturday or Sunday, the board may go down briefly. I think we can all handle 15 minutes. It'll give us time to go practice our two hand tapping. :innocent

A word from our webhost:

Well, things with the new server didn't go as well as we had hoped. The new mysql server ran fine for about two days until something yet to be determined cropped up which comprimised the server stability.

The two servers essentially spent the past two days causing each other to crash. The database server would crash, causing a backlog of requests that would eventually crash the web server. What we wound up doing this afternoon with the help of our server hardware provider is to take them both down, format the database server hard drive, and reinstall the operating system.

We made a backup of all forums before we did that, so all forum activity (posts, threads, users) made before 1pm EDT today (4/12) have been brought over. Some activity after 1pm may have also been backed up depending on when the backup utility got around to copying your forum.

So as it stands we have a clean install of the operating system with a fresh and slightly changed configuration. As we have for the past few days, we will continue to monitor both servers nearly around the clock.

So that is the explanation as to why we aere down today. Rest assurred, our webhost is continueing his diligent and often times thankless work on our behalf.

It truly was a blessed time! A lot of guys (80+) got closer to each other, and closer to our Father. We got a lot of good teaching on being better sons, fathers, and brothers. Age range was from 19 to 70, good diverse group. God is so good! :bowdown:
