Nasa took this picture with the Hubbel space telescope. Nasa has dubbed it "The Eye of God".
I thought you all would find this a little inspiring.

His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me!
BUT...He's a LOT closer than Hubble-vision shows. :-s

Puts a new meaning to God's always watching you.
I posted this observation on TDPRI:
Isn't it remarkable that we are located at a place in the universe that we can see this perspective? And, in the point in time where this heavenly body looks like this?
I am naively guessing that only 10% of the universe has a perspective that we have to see this shape the way we interperate it to be the shape on an eye, and that is perpendicular to us.

After reading up on this, I found some additional information that makes this just that more amazing.
This is actually a composite of 9 NASA images. Each image adds some detail that the other images miss. If you study this closely, you will realize that this is a spiral of gases. NASA calls this the "Trillion miles of spiraling gas". We are actually looking "down the throat" of this spiral. Our solar system is bound to be in the less than .1% vantage point in the universe to see this spiral in this perspective.
Why were we blessed to see this phenominon? They say that this can be located through binoculars or a small telescope (but not with clarity or detail). It is only 650 light years away (just down the block so to speak).

Just saw this today. It is a new infrared enhancement of this system.
