So, I am attempting to add a random YouTube clip (in this case Lincoln Brewster playing "Today is the Day", apparently as a sound check.

Here is the link
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJPvy2C3ahg&feature=PlayList&p=5BB945E2C0BA27B9&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=50"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJPvy2C3ahg&feature=PlayList&p=5BB945E2C0BA27B9&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=50[/URL]

Here is the attempt to attache the clip
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJPvy2C3ahg&feature=PlayList&p=5BB945E2C0BA27B9&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=50
Posting now to see if it worked
Nope, and I have yet to figure out what I am doing wrong.

I pulled up the "youtube" icon and placed the URL between the two code items in square brackets. Obviously, I am doing something wrong.

----------------
Just paste the URL without any additional formatting, not even the "URL" with brackets stuff. See my reply below for greater detail and a caution....

There has been a YouTube icon at the top of the edit box when posting. Usage is described in the BBcode help, which is available via a link in the "Posting Rules" box at the bottom of any page:

The "value" is the Video ID code that YouTube gives to each
video on it's site. That ID is a mix of characters, symbols and numbers
and can be found by looking at the URL to the YouTube video. It's the
value in the "v=" name/value pairing in all YouTube URLs. The example
here is of Phil Keaggy playing part of "The Wind and the Wheat".
The ID code for it is H3iSiij98VY

Usage {youtube}value{/youtube}
Example Usage {youtube}H3iSiij98VY{/youtube}
...

(using curly brackets in this example because I don't want the video to play in this post)

HOWEVER...

YouTube parsing will be changing here soon. Just copy the contents of the "URL" box found to the right of the video on YouTube (NOT the "embed" code, and NOT from your browser URL location field). If you do that, it'll magically start streaming after I work on some server-related stuff (soon). I'll make an announcement in the "Important Announcements" forum when all that is done.

I'll edit your post to show what I mean.

For now, patience, young Skywalker. :yoda:

Oh, now I get it. I didn't realize the code help was there. Guess I should read closer.

Here's my sign....:embarassed:
