Today is one of two days a month we hold court in the little village I am a police officer in. Sgt ad I take seperate cars to couty jail to pick up inmates that have court dates with us. Once we get there three inmates are escorted down. One guy in the streotypical prison orange prison jump suit, ad he's a monster. It's decided that the big guy would ride with me. On the way out I ask him if he likes country music ( I hate coutry music ) he says he likes all kinds of music. So we get on our way back to our municipal building and like every other day I turn the radio to K-Love. Chris Tomlin is on singing "Indescribable" I looked back to see if he was ok and I noticed very introspective clear eyes staring into oblivian. After the song ends he says to me "You know it's funny you pick me up today. I've been in prison for better than 14 years. last night I gave my life to Jesus. I very nearly begin to cry. Then one of my all time favorites comes on.... Tod Agnew "My Jesus" comes on. I told him, listen to this song brother, it's so powerful. I crank it up just as loud as it will go........... "He reaches for the hurting and despises the proud, and I know that he can hear me if I cry out loud" Praise God. I couuld hardly hold back the tears of what God was showing this man. sorry, but I just cannot cry in cruiser.... I told this guy that he could very well one day have an awesome story and testimony for the Glory of the Lord. It's not about you and the storm you're in. it''s about you getting free and praising God for it.
After court I stopped in and told him that if he wanted to speak to me about this stuff further that he knew how to get ahold of me. Now folks I had nothing to do with this. This is all about God showing this man that there is a better way to life and He is the way to freedom. The 14 years of prison failed to bring him to his knees. It was an Easter prison ministry pastor that gave an Easter service at the county jail that final brought this man to his knees and to the realization that he is not in control.
Good Stuff fellas.......
