Thought I would give Flea Bay a shot and see what kind of deals I can get on strings. Found a four pack of 80/20 PB .12-.56 nanowebs. I'm currently in the lead with $35. They are over $13 a pack plus tax at GC. I figure I'm good if I can keep in under $10 a pack.
Thought about buying a pack of John Pearse strings, but I know little about them. Says they are well respected in Blue Grass circles........I decided to pass on them for now.........

I've bought them on there before with no trouble. I don't remember who the seller was, but I think I paid 12 bucks a set for 3 sets. Not a great deal, but it saved me a 30 minute drive each way to the nearest store that carries them.

I have not personally checked so please forgive me if I am wasting your time, but have you checked at webstrings.com or stringthis.com? I get my acoustic strings there 12 sets at a time for around $2.75 per set. But I haven't looked for electric strings so I don't know about those.

Kitty, those are great suggestions. The more you buy at a time the greater discounts you can get. I've got 15 or so new sets hanging around from the last time I made a purchase.

www.juststrings.com is a great site as well and they tend to be cheaper than most others.
Elixir's are not cheap, though ($12.50/set).
I usually order about 4 sets of DRs for the electric and one set of Elixirs for my acoustic when I order.

I order from Juststrings.com also. They are fast in shipping
and have any kind of string you can "plunk" on. :guitar3:

+1. Been their customer for over a year now and their prices, selection and service is stellar. Fast shipping, too.

On the Elixirs how can you play those things?? I can't keep them on my guitar due to breakage. With a new set of the 11- 52's I can't get through a set without breaking the G String on my accoustics. How do you guys use those??
I have gone to the D'Addario coated 11-52's as they don't break as quickly!!!

I use them for about 3 months at least, if not more. I play very aggressively, too. I've never had a problem with them breaking. I use medium picks, which may be a factor. I also wipe them off after I play, every time.

Me neither. I have used them until they just fuzzed up, but I have never broken a string with them.

Funny as I have 3 partial sets of Elixers here with all missing the .22 G string. I have had to use the .22 in them to replace a broken string.
I have issues with my left hand and must use a pretty light string to be able to play accoustics. For me the Elixers just flat don't hold up to my playing
With the D'Addario coated strings I just don't have that problem. You guys must not play as agressively as I do.

I bought a set of Elixirs once to see if they were all that. One of the strings broke just trying to get up to pitch (I don't remember which one).
I get most of my strings from webstrings.com, and they're just fine for me. Or, if MF is having a sale on their house brand strings, I go for those at 2 bucks a set.

I'm totally with you, SAGuitar. I tried Elixers twice on my acoustic and both times I broke a plain string within the first few days, and I hardly ever break strings these days. I like WebStrings too, and you can't hardly beat 'em for the price. Lately I've been using Xaviere (GFS) on my electrics.
