I have, in my guitar collection, a pair of beautiful matching Fenders-a Strat and Tele from the custom shop. These guitars are both excellent players and sound great. They are Champagne Sparkle with Pearl pickguards. I played these guitars alot when I was playing clubs. This Sunday's set list is begging for some Tele, and while I also have a great Highway 1 Tele, I would love to play my CS for it's outstanding "spank". My question is, do you feel the sparkle finish is too much"flash" for worship. I do not want to draw attention to anything other than His glory.
Whadda ya think? :dunno

.... the three wise dudes brough gold to baby Jesus... i can't see why a gold sparkle guitar should be a bad choice. i think peeps who would complain about that are the same ones who would complain about basically anything. go ahead and use it

I agree with Viking. Most people will enjoy the sparkled look. It is not offensive. Yes it might be a little distracting, but not in a bad way. Most people will not be drawn to it more than a few seconds. After that, it will be business as usual.
There are many churches that take great lengths to make their Worship Center eye appealing. Many Catholic churches are adorned in gold and silver fixtures. I don't see the problem with a sparkling guitar. It is about your heart and nothing more. If your heart is drawn to "show-off" the guitar, then that could be a problem. But if is because you want to get some use out of a beautiful guitar and it has the right sound, then go for it.

Agreed, it's your heart that matters the most. But if your conscience won't allow it, know that God is greater than your conscience and would not approve. I think it would look cool, and of course only guitar players would pay attention..... :-)

If you are being convicted by it, you will have to decide if it's God's direction or the lier setting a stumbling block. I wouldn't think anything about playing it at our Church, I would do it in a second. But I know it would not offend anyone there. But, you will have to decide that for yourself, it's between you and God.
It's your motive God looks at, even if it drew some attention, if that was not your intension to start with, your fine. Sounds like you think it would be the better guitar to play, God wants our best...

Well - you could always cover it with black duct tape! :shock :shock
Don't worry... as long as it isn't Liberace-style ornate... you are probably fine. If folks are really into doing the worship thing - they won't notice if it's green, purple, zebra striped or orange. :angel

Go for it. It's not the guitar that's doing the playing, it's you. If it sounds better, use it.

Thanks guys,
You have all solidified what I felt and I in fact turned it over to He who really matters and I think He has spoken. Sunday we will be sparkling for Him!!
Peace

Cool, that was my opinion as well. Since He gave us everything we have, and it belongs to Him anyway, why not use the gifts he's given us (talent, money, guitars, whatever) to glorify Him.

I've always secretly wanted an Explorer. I think I got that from Def Leppard.

It`s not the gear it`s the heart of the person using it .I love my pointy Carvins and play them regularly in worship services http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v27/rutledri/IM000062.jpg

Tell them all that the sparkles are 'Praise Refractors' redirecting and adding intesity to the praise that might be misdirected toward your super sweet guitar.
Have fun!
