Had to mention my "top axe," a US Hamer Archtop Studio. It's some years old, and equipped a little differently than the new ones. The Hamer Archtop is essentially a double cutaway LP-type guitar. The Hamer has a 1-piece mahogany back and a carved, arched top of flamed maple. Fourteen coats of hand-rubbed lacquer vintage dark burst finish, gorgeous. Gold hardware, including pickup covers, Schaller tuners and Wilkinson wraparound bridge/tailpiece combo. The neck is a wonderful medium size, the frets medium-large and beautifully finished, just right. The standard Hamer volume-volume-tone setup with a standard three way switch, SD 59 and JB pickups. Quality tapered pots make the tone pots superbly effective. Wonderfully made and finished, extremely versatile guitar. Nothing better for the price, and rather few things as good anywhere near the price. Get 'em used before they get out of sight.
