Can I get some input on what you all think is the best chorus pedal out there for under $100? ($50 to $60 would be ideal). I already have a primary pedal board with the Roland (Boss) CE-1 in it, so I am quite spoiled. I am putting together a trimmed down version using my old Boss board, and want to add a smaller chorus to it. I have owned a Boss CE-5, didn't like it at all and gave it away.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Well, I was gonna suggest the Boss CE-1, but you've already got that covered! No help from me... :dunno:

Yeah, to get another CE-1 would cost over $250 in the "vintage" market these days. Besides that, I want something smaller that doesn't need it's own power cord.

The Ibanez CS-9 was highly recommended, but they too are considered "vintage" and fetch over $100. I can get a reissue CS-9 for around $80, so has anybody had any experience with them?

Also, the old Boss CE-2 sells for between $125 and $150 on eBay. Has anyone compared those two?

Thoughts on the CE-2?

I think the japanese CE-2 is the best one out there...
I used to own one...

have you checked out the CE 3?? it's a CE 2 with stereo outs... well similar
I have one... it sounds nice...
I got mine for 60 on Ebay

That really depends. If you like the CE-1 I would say CE-2 or CE-3
1 minute search and I found out that a decent CE-2 will set you back $50ish and up
while a CE-3 you can get for less. I guess it is about supply and demand.

Now digitech has a few and most guys I know either love them or hate them intensly. I have a few and you can manage to get a decent result with some those.

Now from time to time I stumble over low priced gems, like last week I bought a Keeley compressor for $60, so I would strongly suggest you find out what you want and just keep on looking on ebay and so on.

Dude, you scored a Keeley compressor for 60 bucks? Man, I have been watching Ebay for over a year for one of those and haven't seen a bargain like that yet! Way to go!

for a budget Chorus I have been VERY impressed with the new chorus in the Danelectro Cool Cat line (new ones with metal case, metal jacks, true bypass). It is a very lush analog sounding chorus.

Actually I was using a Visual Sound Liquid Chorus (the single pedal) and it knocked it off my board. Can be had for well under $50...worth a look!
