If anybody is interested, you can go to www.philkeaggy.com and click on "News" and it will give you the opportunity to see a concert that was taped earlier this month. Phil starts playing about 35 minutes in, after some praise and worship. I was mesmerized. He's amazing, and incredibly humble. Highly recommended.

I did sound for Phil at a church concert in Northern Virginia about 14 years ago.
He was awesome and signed one of his CD's for me. Let em hang out backstage and jam a bit with him. He's a guitar phenom.....

Ya I really enjoy his stuff. I'm not crazy about his singing vocals... but the guitar wizardry is great.
One of the guys I regularly jam with says, "No one out there is raising the bar in the Christian guitar music scene - not like Hendrix, Page, Vai, Satch, Eric Johnson, SRV." I always think "well, there IS Phil Keaggy."
It would be neat to see a few devoted guitarists bring some new innovations to the guitar world and bring in a new era of style (like the aforementioned gurus). Time will tell, eh?!
But then again - when Jesus comes, it won't make a whit of difference if you even play guitar... LOL. So my guess is that there are potential guitar visionaries within the Christian arena, but they are focusing on the greater principle, "he must increase, but I must decrease".
Food for thought...

Rex Carroll from Whitecross was/is an absolute monster of a player that never got the recognition that he deserved. I've heard that there's going to be a Whitecross reunion. Could be cool.
Another amazing player is Tony Palacios. He played for Guardian, and also did a few tours with Michael W. Smith. I think he's doing mostly production stuff now.

Let me throw Dave Beegle's name in the hat. He and Keaggy play when Phil is in Colorado. Dave's a scary player!
