Great!!!

I would also like to request that folks refrain from posting commentary without a picture. It begins to clutter the thread. Associated commentary with the picture is OK though.

Hmmm... Seems that most everybody is posting pics of themselves with their gear. I can do that, too. My personal favorite is the picture with my wife in my earlier post, but here ya go.....

Here's me playing my old department store special in MA around 1980. I used this bass in a folk band (in PA) and for many church-sponsored gigs (in MA):
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y97/bardani/1980_bass.jpg

Here I'm playing the church's P bass during an outreach practice in Florida, circa 1990:

This is my Yamaha, ministering to myself at home (CA) circa 1998:

Working out a lead riff for an original with the Strat last year:
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y97/bardani/strat01.jpg

Playing with the new 5-string this past January. You can see my Mbox in this pic, too. I usually patch the stereo into the portastudio and plug in headphones for practice. Recording is to the PC:

Great pictures everyone! Nice to put a face to the name. Here's one from a couple of years ago while I on missions trip building homes for the homeless in Reynosa Mexico. Word got out that a guitar player was around so I was drafted. Joyfully worshipping though, in a dusty hotel with hot and dirty brothers and sisters in Christ trying to be salt and light.

PIXAR - what's not to like?! They even broke with Disney... 'nuff said.

Every show they have done since the Toy Story movies (and really those too) impresses me every time I watch. I like the TS series, but I've seen those so many times... oi. The Incredibles is probably my favorite, with Monsters and Nemo coming in second/third.

leecow- what happened to the pic?

Kewl- I like 'The Incredibles' allright (not as much as Monster Inc, though)- it looks stunning on a DLP projector, (so does Monsters, Inc, too); but what I really like about 'The Incredibles' is the quality of the recorded soundtrack. The first time I loaded the disc in our Denon DVD player and the audio booted up, I about wet my pants...

:soapbox
Analog tape is unmistakable, and a wonderful, fresh change from all the DDD garbage being foisted upon us. (no offense to those digital nuts out there) I stopped listening to music for pleasure nearly 15 years ago, due to the fact that I can't stand DDD formatted music recordings- not because I don't like digital per se', but I don't like how it sounds. I CAN stand SACD and HDCD to a degree that are DDD, but it's still no contest in the shadow of analog.

There is something sonically magical about analog tape- the results speak for themselves. I too, use the digital medium for convenience and cost-effective tracking; it's great for what it is; but for any big productions I want analog tape, period.

It's about time.

Now THAT'S what recorded music is supposed to sound like!!!

stephen
07-12-2005, 05:18 PM
how do you insert an image????

OKEE-DOKEY!

First you need to have a photo host like thePixPlace, or photobucket.com . Both are free.

You download your photo to that site.

You then hot-link the photo: (using photo bucket as the template) Follow the directions at photobucket for downloading your photo.

Once its downloaded, you'll see your photo and three lines under the photo:
1) Url
2) Tag
3) Img

Now before you post here on the forum, you have to make sure it is sized correctly. Click on the edit button to see what the size is., Play with the reduce size till it say's its 400 x 400 pix's or less (thats the max size for the forum).

Now that its sized right, right click in the "Img" box, and select 'copy'. Paste that into the thread your are starting or replying to, and you get this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v328/PraiseCaster/DSC01783.jpg
I hope I covered that right!

If I missed anything, hopefully someone else here can fill in the gaps for me.

Kitty

Play with the reduce size till it say's its 400 x 400 pix's or less (thats the max size for the forum).

Ok, what do you mean by the max size for the forum? Because there are plenty of pics here bigger than 400 x 400.

Kitty

reverbbb
07-12-2005, 06:29 PM
Kitty:

Stephen uses 400x400 as his maximum (I'm not sure how he got that exact number for his standard). The reason for limiting the size, is that large photos cause the page width to get screwed up and require excessive use of the scrolling bars. Therefore, it makes it difficult to read people's post.

Many other forums use 600x400 as their maximum guideline. Nearly all monitors can easily display 600 pixel width. But now days, many newer monitors are displaying 1250 pixels wide.

Plus, the larger the picture, the longer it takes to display the page.

You may have noticed that I am the renegade in this department. I have been known to push the bondries to 800 pixels wide several times. I really shouldn't be breaking the rules. :banghead

kewlpack
07-12-2005, 06:48 PM
FWIW,

An image of 400x400 usually has a smaller file size (if compressed properly) and if we have a page full of giant images, it can slow things down for non-high bandwidth folks. Yeah, there are still sl0wbies in the world... :-s

It's a happy balance is all... it is primarily a guideline. I hate to have to scroll left/right personally - and I run 1280x960! :banghead

Of course, no one who posts images over 400x600 will go to heaven anyway!! :angel :angel (J/K!!!! THAT IS A JOKE)... ;)

Well,

If you are seeing it correctly, you see a LIVING SACRIFICE logo followed by some B/W photos of trees. Depending on your display settings, you might only see a black box.

I get the animated .gif from http://www.livingsacrifice.com/ under the media section. There you will find three .gif AIM Buddy Icons.

And yes, Living Sacrifice is my favorite Christian band!

And no, I do not play speed metal, in fact I rarely play anything louder than some Keaggy tunes, classical, flamenco, and sometimes some Leo Kottke songs in wierd tunings, and usually on nothing more than acoustic guitar. I have only been playing electric for about a year and a half. My electric guitar looks nothing like a lightning bolt or a battle ax, in fact, it is the cheapest guitar I own, an Ibanez AX220.

(Just answering the typical questions folks ask when I tell them LS is my favorite band.)

Cool guitar cmc. I have a '92 PRS Custom 24. And BTW, mine is blue as well (I bet nobody could have guessed that one). My pickups are so hot, that I only play it when I want to get a singing lead. The voicing of the pups are uniquely PRS old school. I think the current pups they are producing are sounding much better these days - more tone, less gain.

Some advise, don't ever sell that guitar. If you want another guitar, do anything you can to keep your first pride & joy guitar. Most of us oldies are regretting selling our first good guitars. I bought a '75 Gibson Black Beauty Custom w/nickel harware when I was about 18. I worked for 6 months at $1.25/hour to save up the $550 to buy a factory new Gibson. After playing it and wearing the frets off for about 12 years, I sold it for $325 because I was dedicated to playing keyboards for many years. I wish I still had the BB and my '70 100 Marshall rig. Those were the days.

I just realized, that $550 at $1.25 was 440 hours of making pizza (before taxes were taken out). I must have REALLY wanted that guitar bad. It does seem that I had to 'borrow' $100 from my VERY reluctant mom.

Double mirrors? Oh, I get it now. I thought there were some more folks in the bathroom with you :ILY

Actually, the hand towels behind your right shoulder made me think that you were sitting on a couch. You could have left out the bathroom part - I probably would have never guessed.

That's perhpas the closest shot that I have seen of your refin. Are you saying that you took an original goldtop and refinished - or a RI? In any case, that is a nice subtle figuring in the top. Although I have two very figured guitars, the figuring is not a big attribute for me. Subtle is better IMO.

I mentioned the bathroom part because of the double mirror effect on the guitar neck--some might wonder "What room is he is that has 2 mirrors so close together?"

The guitar was originally one of the last '57 P-90 Lester goldtops....someone had already refinished and routed the body when I acquired it.I had the original brown case, but sold it to a collector friend of mine. It's been a testing ground for all different kinds of pups, from an original PAF to the current Wolfetone rewinds. It came with a set of original '70s DiMarzio PAFS,which absolutely have tone.

That's the word, bro! I think they used to really have something with those. They were a great sounding PAF attempt.

Sadly, just like mainstay Duncans, the current DiMarzio "old" models, especially the PAF do NOT sound like the DM "PAF's" from the 70's.

How do you like the PODXT?

I'm asking cause I dont have much experience with modelers and the like. I did try to figure out a Boss GT-6, and I wasnt too succesful. I could get a good stack tone, and really overdriven tones, but everything else I was dissapointed with, but I chalked it up to me not doing a good job at twisting the knobs, or it could have been cause I was playing through an amp, not a PA.

it's a great guitar. i've never played another one that matched it in versatility and tone. god blessed me by having someone give it to me out of the blue, and it's really served me well. It's a modded Legacy. I don't quite know all the details, but i do know that the guy who gave it to me had it built 100% custom for him, using the Legacy as a base. i am so blessedd to have such a nice guitar. if i had never received it, i might have never picked up electric.

I'm 55, which is retirement age in the Public Sector (by OUR contract).
Plus, they still pay my medical, vision, and Dental premiums.

I'm young enough to still enjoy playing out and goofing off, and it's the guys like me you see working at hardware stores (because the money was never much: it was the bennies: like early retirement)!

It's kinda like military service. You do all kinds of dumb stuff, directed by the brain trust :crazy then when you're burned out enough to scare them, they cut you loose with a little hush money. ;)

I scare everyone, anyway. :angel (No, not really.)

Seriously, though, at 51, I've been in a kind of forced retirement (disability) for more than a year now and will probably have to remain so. (The wife and I are doing alright, however. No :-({|= necessary.)

YouTube - HPBC You Are Holy

The story behind this: Our Worship Team had the honor of leading worship on the last evening of the Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention. The day before at work I started to feel lousy - scratchy throat and sneezing. By the next morning (I had the day off) I had a fever, sore throat, runny nose, the works. But I stll wanted to play. Sure, I took Tylenol, Airborn, and cough syrup but I still felt lousy and still had a fever when I got to the convention. That morning I prayed and prayed in the car along the way for Jesus to just put me in His zone - where He wanted me to be. And it worked! :yeah: I played through the pain (I was still a mess during the breaks) but when I got up on the stage I was in His zone. God is so great - He never abandons us. ;)

I was the lone guitarist, so I went acoustic that night. Didn't use the pedal. Yeah, that's a Washburn EA-20MB. I know it makes me look like a bit ridiculous but I don't care. I likes ma' guitar. Generally speaking, if a guitar looks right on me, it's too small to sound good.

btw, I'm not much shorter than Kitty.:tomato_food:

OK - I've held out on you all long enough... Here is a recent photo of me and my family at the Cubs game which got rained out... My lovely bride of 10 years is front left, My son Matthew (5) is next to her. Heather's Mom is back left, I'm back right with my younger son Ethan (3). I'm sure this will damage whatever semblance of reputation I had here... Either way... her it finally is... God bless!

Nice tele there Randy!

Thats gotta be one of them cool 52RI's.

I got it on good authority, from a brother in the Lord, preacher, Colonel in the Salvation Army, Rev. Spanky (who has gone on to be with Jesus!): "God plays a 52ri--He's really GOOD TOO !" That was in Reverend Spanky's sig tag on the TDPRI.

Well, maybe not JUST like it, but it looks cool.

Randy
11-14-2009, 06:21 PM
Thanks guys~

Yup, thats a 52, but with a little twist. Fender builds a handfull of "thin-skin" nitro finished guitars for two or three shops. This one features a Seymour Duncan '59 humbucker, 6105 fret wire... and I think the bridge p/u is wound a little hotter to balance with the neck p/u (but I'm not 100% sure). Either way, this is one of those guitars that always sounds right to my ears, stays in tune VERY well, and heck- she's quite purddy if I do say so myself.

As for the Marshall, it was a "going-away" present from the guys I worked with at my last base. Its a neat little box of goodness :)

It's not really a kit. You buy the blue prints. Aircraft Spruce sells the tubing kit and the wood kit and fabric kit. But none of them are correct. Your better off to buy your own materials.

I designed and painted the checkerboard scheme on my computer and then painted it myself. I spent $200.00 in masking tape to make all those checkers. I was questioning my sanity by the time I got through.........

So your a pilot? I flew that one to Osh in 03. It was the 50th anniversary of the Tailwind. We had about 20 of us fly in together in single file formation. It was almost a disaster. I knew it was going bad when I heard the controller send 2 T6's around and said "The Tailwinds are out of control". I can laugh about it now, not so funny then...................

Yes I am, though currently inactive. PM me some time, and I will tell you about the crazy landing up there one year when a 172 flew UNDER my T-tail Arrow on short final to 27 just before the airport closed for the evening. Probably boring for most of the others here.
