When I bought the Whitford Prosonic head I called Bruce Zinky to get the scoop on the head. While I was talking to Bruce the conversation wandered to the regular Prosonics. Bruce told me about his origional design intent was for the combo to be a 1/12 NOT the 2/10 set up Fender wound up producing.
I converted my combo to a 1/12 after sitting down and A/B-ing the 2/10 comb to a Orange Vin 30 1/12 cab. The Orange cab NUKED my combo internal speakers badly in overall tones.
Well I did the conversion and origionaly used a Genz Benz 75 watter from a G-Flex cab .. Thatcombo sounded good but it was an 8 ohm speaker and I really needed to be running a 16 ohm load in the combo.
Enter the Veteran 30. I got a steal deal off another board on a mint Veteran ($35 SHIPPED!!)and dropped it into the combo and WOW what a difference just TONE for DAYS!! Fatter and smoother than the Genz Benz was with a more solid bottom and a warm and smooth singing top end. Yesterday I went back and A/B-ed the combo with the Veteran to that Orange 1/12 with the Vin 30 and guess what, now the combo stomped it!! MUCH MUCH smoother and less harsh in the top end than the Vin 30 the bottom was tighter and that anoying HONK in the high mids on the Vin 30 was not present in the Veteran.
Bottom line head to head the WGS Veteran 30 IMO blows the Celestian Vin 30 flat out of the water and it does it for MUCH LESS MONEY! Even at the same price I will take these WGS's for the tone hands down but at $65 a pop just WOW!!
Check these speakers out guys I'm SOLD on um!!
