Alrighty - I brought this up awhile back and finally decided to go for it...

Have a read of my ideas and give me your feedback. Also - if you would like to be a contributor PLEASE post here or PM me. I will PM you the details.

Here is what I'm thinking...

==============
In all my time going through the various modelers, I cannot count the times I've seen the same old questions about the same old subjects. Regardless of the particular mutlieffects device (or even just single effects), people are constantly rehashing the same stuff and arguing about this or that over and over.

So, I awoke to a brainstorm the other day and have been noodling on it for awhile... tell me, would this be valuable to you?

A web portal that is dedicated to all things Guitar/Effects/Amps/Tone and is not only a centralized jump-point for all the forums for the various units out there, but also a place where you can find sections devoted to xxxx brand modeler. Each section would have key articles describing how REAL users are getting the best results, and articles on setting things up.

I am thinking that I would do reviews on various products (that I've had or can get in on trial basis), as well as a possible Matrix showing head to head stuff...

I would guarantee it to be better in design and usability than 95% of the stuff that's out there now (I've been doing graphics since '89 and web app dev since '95)... I hate it when I can't find the great info or when it is hard to READ!

It's still in a thinktank kinda phase - but I sense a genuine need for this kind of resource.

Do you think you would use a site like that? Let me know.

==============

This project will allow me to have control over the "appropriateness" of the content and even build an area dedicated to Christian Guitar topics. I will need help - and some of you guys have been around awhile - so your editorial thoughts would be coveted.

I've already arranged the changes with my hosting service to support it. So now is the time to jump in! I'll use you as much as you are willing to give.

Please let me know!

Moral support, prayer support, nd if you can use me in any way, I'm all for it!

I would be willing to do interviews, so I'll have to start contacting some people. I do have a few connections, so I'll have to see if it pans out.

I can also proof read for ya: used to do that for a technical company years ago.

Just ask, and I'll see if I can contribute.

you'll want to think of an outline for reviews on specific items like modelers, guitars, amps, etc.. that way every review hits the same issues over and over, and one can then get a good comparison to other like items.

So you'll want a template of sorts to just fill in the blanks with all the data/observations

Excellent input. Thanks - if any of you guys have more ideas like this - POST THEM...

I'm with ya, Kewldude! I've been around a long time (read: old), and played professionally for year, too, so I have a lot of experience with some amps, guitars, and effects. I'd be glad to contribute an article or four for you as needed.

I definitely see a need for that kind of site on the Big Triple W, and it should attract viewers rapidly, if it is set up well, and contains honest, unbiased reviews and information.

I have also been in the printing business for over thirty years, so I'm nearly literate by now. I don't know a thing about web apps 'n stuff, but I amp familiar with graphics applications, which is how I make my living. I'm also overworked, and overcommitted at church, so I don't have a lot of free hours available, but I'd love to contribute to an effort like this.

Go for it, and to God be the Glory!

Just cuz I know you run a studio, you could head up ' "Push Record", with The Viking'. We need to get a picture of you in a Viking Helmet, wieldeing a big ole Nordic Axe! I'd read that article!

Oh you mean a pic of me wearing my everyday outfit and carrying what we Vikings choose to call our "persuasion tool”... hm while I'm at it I might drag my trusty ole polar bear out of the cave and sadle it up. hehehe :ROFL

I'll help if I can. My Composition professors have told me that I have the writing skills to be a professional writer, if I wanted to. Musically, well, I am better than anyone in the world at sounding exactly like me. :ROFL

I don't know nothin' about most of what your taking about, but I will pray that God leads you in His direction on this project.
If you can find some way for me to help, that would make you pretty creative, and it would be fine by me.
Good luck!

BTW I didn't know they rode Polar Bears over there, see what you can learn here. Can you use them to row your long boats too? :-)

I've been thinking about what I could bring to this table. My background is electronic engineering, may be able to help with equipment evaluations & so forth.

Okay - guys - If you would like to be a contributor (voluntary - no obligation) send me an email at "kewlpack AT gmail DOT com" (spelled out to avoid spam) with your name and handle and I'll send you the latest Contributor update.

Things are going slower than I had hoped due to regular old life stuff. :) But I am trying to keep it going!

actually the ole song....

Row, row, row your boat,
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.

.....Is really a tratiditonal Viking diddy, the original lyrics directly translated from Vinkingish would be.....

Row, row, your long boat,
ride the ocean blue,
If you have a polar bear,
it will row for you.

....The song was traditionally done in polar bear friendly keys to make it easier for the polar bears to grunt and roar in tune.

(There are a few people in our chior that still sing in that key today. Funny how traditions are passed down.) :-)

Now THAT's something! I've been trying to convert my guitars for quite awhile now;and when I ask 'em if they'd like to know Jesus, they just gimme that same blank stare...

That's because they already know God, Bro!! He made the trees and everything they were crafted from... :angel :angel :angel It's only we humans who stumble around blindly in our own darkness who have to find the light of the Lord! ;)

Colossians 1:16
For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-- all things have been created through Him and for Him.

The blank stare you get from the guitars is simply them saying "what took you so long?" ;)

Uhm... I'm 36 - just had my birthday a few weeks ago. The grayish hair makes me look 73 though...

FYI - I haven't received any volunteers via private email from you guys who said you might want to help. :dunno No hurry, just mentioning it.

Of course, just as I committed to this project, my schedule has been busy this week... doh. I'll get things rolling over the weekend (I hope!). Tomorrow just opened up completely - so there is a window of time! Yikes things can get hectic fast. :banghead
