Well as I continue to improve I have to tell you folks that I love finger picking. Strumming is fine but I find myself going back to finger picking.

I have been playing alot with the three chords for the song I attempting to write. Dm-Cmaj-Am. I love goofing around with hammer on's ad pull off's. then I play with different tempos and picking patterns. I can play for hours with those three little chords and hardly do the same thing twice.

I bought a pair of ear buds so I could plug into my Zoom A2 peddle. Have I told you folks how much I love that peddle. Just when I think I've played with every option picking around with those three chords now I can flip through all 80 pre sets. Get outta here!

Ever play Stairway to Heaven with heavy flanger? Awesome

I just love it. To me finger picking to me exemplifies the intimacy of he instrument. Every string is special since they sound individually, delicately. I am trying to break the bad habit of anchoring my pinky on the top of the guitar with my picking hand. I know purist classical guitar folks are gasping right now. I'm working on it but old habits are hard to break.

I can relate, having taking classical guitar lessons at one point in my life.
Finger picking brings a unique tone that's flat picking doesn't. I've found that even holding my guitar pick and finger picking with my thumb & index finger is sweet. With my Telecaster /B bender, I'm learning to claw pick, that is playing different triads that you just can't do holding a guitar pick.

Hey, it's great that you're enjoying the ZOOM A2 and your guitars through the A2.

I guess I don't know how to play the guitar, actually I know I don't.rofl I fingerpick with my right hand unanchored and all over the place but in control. Is that claw picking?:dunno:

My best local buddy, and jam master is a stickler for anchoring the pinky. Oh, how he he gives me heck. What's to stop me from giving him an earful? Because I don't care.:)

Now, this guy has changed from anchoring, after watching me, to resting his whole palm. Oh boy, he had to go find electric guitars with ashtrays or bridge covers to do that, and you won't believe this; he actually builds wooden covers for the bridges of his acoustics; he is the owner of many guitars, all kinds, as well as a skilled woodworker.

I think that the palm resting limits what he can do, and where he can move.

My son who took classical, along with everything else, was allowed to pick freely and never anchored at any spot, by more than one "modern" teacher.

That's as relevant as I can get (I hope) with no formal training or experience myself.:embarassed:

God gave us four fingers and a thumb. Might as well use 'em all
