More Sermon notes/ideas. Hope these are a little better!

John 4:27-38 1 Corinthians 3:5-9

What is Your food.

Food is necessary for life.
Good food is even more important than just any food.
Physical food without physical exercise makes you fat, clogs your arteries and eventually kills you.
Spiritual food without spiritual exercise makes you fat, clogs your relationship with god and eventually kills it.

What is your exercise?

Transition from an agrarian to a urban/industrial society is/has destroyed our health and our connection to the land.
What we once received by living our daily lives we now must make special efforts to get and use up valuable time that could otherwise be spent working.

What is your work?

People who are happy in their work get more enjoyment out of life.
People who work for the Lord, tend to be more satisfied.
In agragrian society planting was done in the spring and it took 4-6 months to harvest a crop.
In Christ work the same is true.
Throw off the need for instant results and give others time to grow.
Are you a planter, telling people about Christ in your words and actions?
Are you a yard maintenance person who first clears the weeds and stones so the planter can plant?
Are you a nurturer who puts out the fertilizer, weeds the “garden”, and waters the plants?
Are you a harvester who reaps the benefits of what the others have done?

No matter your place in the chain, it is important to the entire operation for everything needs to get done and everybody has a role to play. Christ was satisfied in His Spirit when He did His Fathers will and it was enough. How about you?

Very good ideas, thanks! The thought and hard work you have put into these notes caused me to pause, reflect and thank Jesus for what he has planted in my life, and for the future fruit that will surely come.

In Christ:

Michael
