The looper came last night. I am really impressed with all of the features that they manage to pack in. It took me about two hours to get loops like I want, but I would say that had more to do with my never using a looper before than the fault of the product.

What I like:
Rhythm guide. It has a small drum machine in it. This is great when I am practicing by myself.

Looping and dubing is pretty easy, just press and go.

16 minuites of recording time. That provides a lot of loops.

tap tempo. you can slow down a previously recorded peice which is really nice. Also you can import music from a mp3 player and slow that down. I think that will make it an awesome practice tool.

What I don't like:

Stoping loops is tough. With only one button you have to hit the switch twice to stop. That requires a lot of thinking. You can use an external footswitch, however the one that I have is not a Boss one and dosn't work with the pedal very well.

The Rhythm guide takes a long time to navagate. There are 33 patterns and you can only go foward one at a time.

That's about it. I think it is a fun little tool.

Cool, I'm glad you like it! I've never figured out a use for one of those myself, I get confused enough just using stompboxes!

As a side note, I have an extra Boss footswitch, an FS-5 or something, if you're interested. It can be set for latching, or momentary switching.

Thanks, but I figured it out. User error, not footswitches fault. With a 40 page manual I was bound to miss a thing or two.

??? Wow, 40 pages for a stompbox? That's a bit excessive.

My Epiphone Valve Junior came with a switch, and a knob. That was pretty minimalistic for me! rofl

That sounds like it could be a great practice tool in the ole woodshed: Hammer out some lead lines over a rhythm part.........

That is what I was hoping for. Also I put a few simple instrumental peices on it for before church starts.

Ever since I saw/heard Phil Keaggy us a looper live during his solo acoustic set several years ago, I've been curious about loopers. Its just amazing what he does with one. He plays (and sings) the first verse and chorus while recording the first loop. Then, beginning with the second verse, while the looper is playing back what he played on the first verse, he's now playing a different part (and singing of course). Then he takes a solo over his first 2 parts. Just amazing. Did I say amazing?

If only the looper would make me sound amazing.

I bought an RC-2 not long ago. And the Boss external footswitch. It's cool but will take me a while to figure it all out. The pedal comes with some pre-recorded loops on the last 3 tracks. Now I'm interesed in the Electroharmonix POG. It never ends... well it does end when my wife yanks the leash.

I didn't even knotice that it comes with loops on the last locations. This pedal is quickly becomming my favorite toy.

I got one recently and really like it alot. I also have the Boss DrRhythm (DR-2) machine, so I can download more robust drum patterns to the RC-2 as well. I was considering older RC20 or RC20xl as well but like the smaller unit. I did get external switch (the dual FS-6) but am finding it's too big for my board. It is nice to have the additional pedal control.

I did not get it for performance use as much as for practice. I play rhythm guitar in our praise band and would like to extend some more into lead work (electric) as well. I have all the equipment and basic skills (scales and such) but need to develop more comfort improvising leads over chord progressions. This is a great way to lay down a chord progression and have it loop so I can work on leads on top of it. Great tool!
