The template experiment!

Here is the plan as I out lined in the post, "I've narrowed it down to 3".

This is what YOU gotta do:

1) go to profile up above.

2) scroll down to "Preferences", and find "board style"

3) clic on the arrow, and select the template you want to try out.

4) scroll all the way down, and clic on "submit". Your done!

Now I'm going to give this poll 3 days, and then I will make the decision from there (I say, I'll make the decision from there, cause if there aint much participation on this poll, I'm gonna be the one to decide then! So in other words, VOTE!). So Heeeee-ere We Go (again)!

I vote for Space pilot also it`s really an eye catcher looks classy and sets us apart from any other BBS I have ever seen.The Aeolus was nice but frankly I found it to be bland and generic .As a Christian my life has been anything but bland and generic plus I think the Space Pilot mirrors our faith after all we ARE just :angel aliens and strangers here aren`t we :dunno ?

I voted for Aeolus.... because the "Let Me Choose" option was taken off of the poll :biggrin:

So, my suggestion would be to choose the default template based on the poll and which one you like best, but make available these options (and more?) in or profile preferences.

I picked Aeolus becasue it is the easiest on the eyes; I have found for reading and posting on message boards, a combination of light background and a nicely contrasting darker (but not black) text is best.

I guess I should explain why I decided against "Let me Choose": Beleive it or not, besides appearance there are subtle differences between the templates, like where certain items (links, selections) are loaded, and I felt it would be easier for moderating/administrating, to keep the template consistant amongst all users.

There are some very cool templates out there, but I didnt think we would ant SpiderMans face, or little angry army dudes runnin around the page. Hey, there was a very nice, darker colored, yet easy on the eyes template called Jedi Knights2. While I am a Star Wars fan, I didnt feel it was the right place on this Forum to see Darth Vader, weilding a light-saber, and looking menacing.

I hope that explains the method to my madness!

Hmmmm, You know, I did just check out a "Barney" template. You remember Barney dont you: Big purple dinosaur that went around getting your kids to sing incessantly, and non-stop "I love you! Aeolus is gonna be the winner.

Now a few have said, "Why dont you keep em all, and let the user decide which one they want to use?" Very good point, and I dont begrudge that idea one bit. But, from time to time an issue or two might arise which requiresa me or my moderators to intervene. All three of the templates are similar, but different. What I need, is thet there be some continuity, that the problem described, gets the answer that fits, and in my itty bitty mind, the only way to do that, is to make sure we are all on the same page (pun intended). So its basically to make things a little easier on yours truly. besides if I'm doin this :banghead all the time, I'd just break the wall! then I'd have to build a new one!
