I am playing a stock MIM Standard Tele through a solid state Deluxe 90 amp....
and I love my tone!
My playing is another story, but I love the sound of my rig. I know I am supposed to be dissatisfied with it, but.....
My relationship with my Strat is another, more complex story :?

Do you use any effects or just Tele > amp? I can't play a solid state amp without something else in there.

Agreed.
Even with a pure tube amp I like to use a dash of chorus, a pinch of mellow reverb and a tad of pingpong delay. Tasty. :)
Gives me a little more depth and musicality to whatever I play (clean or crunchy).
Of course when I decide to dive into a more insane-style tone (stadium metal for lack of a better description) I will throw on a Korg Metal Distortion set at about 8 (drive), with a louder/longer delay and more chorus mixed in... wheee! 8) 8) Sustain forEVER!

Most of the time I play clean w/ no effects. If I do use effects, I use the buit-in DSP effects on my Deluxe 90 DSP amp. I use the flanger most of the time. The other effects see very little use.

Clean solid state with a Morley (or Award) JD10 pedal between the guitar and amp is one of my favorite setups! I LOVE that sound, and have used that instead of my tube amps for many gigs.
I'm also a big fan of the Lab Series amps. I own three of those. Tech 21 amps are cool too, but I don't own any.
As far as getting that tube "feel", only the JD10 comes closest IMO. The Lab Series have a wonderful compressor that aids in getting that tube feel, but it's still not very authentic. Sounds great though. Any guitarist in the audience would never know if you were using tubes or not. Since the Lab Series has a great sounding reverb, it's also makes a great "straight into the amp" setup.
The JD10 is supposed to be a pedal, but the knobs are on the side, putting them in danger of being sheared off by a misguided foot (speaking from experience). So, I just set it on top of the amp. If your amp dies, just plug the JD10 straight into the PA and turn its speaker simulator on. Stills sounds great!

For most of the stuff I've done in churches, my Tech 21 TM10 has worked very nicely. Very tube-ish sound, none of the harshness I usually associate with SS amps. I do add a skosh of reverb in there, but I also do that when using the Peavey Delta Blues. Plus, in a bigger church the TM10 will XLR into the sound system.
Main guitars: 1969 Fender Telecaster (SD Antiquity bridge, RG Vintage Tallboy neck) and '90s Telecaster Deluxe (3-pup MIJ).

Tech 21 stuff is great.
I like tube amps too, but the newer SS stuff is pretty good.
Clean is easy with about anything, but distortion sounds are harder to get right in SS.
Tech 21 has done a great job with it, in my experience.
A TM-10 can out-Champ a Champ amp (one of my faves)!

I've really found that the Tech 21 experience is unsatisfying for some - and I believe it's because some folks don't have the patience to re-learn how to work an amplifier. The TM10 is a bit frustrating at first until you get used to the active controls. Tiny tweaks make a big difference in the sound. But I've found that the longer I spend with it the more I like it. It's a great little amp and more than one person has asked me if there are tubes in it!
