I was so proud that I only scored a 100 on the GAS Scale that SA posted over in OOCPB, until today.

I had to go to the local GC to look at some Aurelex bases for our church's new sub-woofers.

So as I'm leavin oler GC, I spy a guitar on a stand over the amps, Its a PRS Single cut. I go ver just to take a peek at it. Its black, with single binding on the front, two humbuckers, stop bridge, and a big SE on the headstock.

Well, I've been wanting to check out the SE Single cuts for quite a while, and this is the first opportunity I had to play one. So much foir getting in and out of GC in less that 10 minutes............

Well since its Sunday afternoon, all the lil shredders and noobie guitar torturers, I mean rookie guitarists, are in full force audio assault, and most of the amps are bein hogged either by drop D numetal pumelers, or some rookie making his 832 attempt to nail Smoke on the Water. He had to go for attempt 833................. the 834, 835, 836, .........

Well I found a Crate V8 that wasnt bein used, so I located a cable and a chair, and I plugged in.......................

:yikes: I want this guitar.

First off, its only 579 bucks, US. Great deal.

Its light! I mean Telecaster light! Balance is good. Flat fretboard radius. I dont know exactly what its radius is, but its flatter than my Epi LP (12" radius).

This guitar plays great and sounds great! I was really amazed at how comfortable the neck was. I dont like real flar fret boards (anything flatter than a Gibby, is too flat in my book, well until today that is. And the action is really low, with absolutely zero fret buzz.

Sustain on this puppy is unbelievable. It might have more sustain than my LP!

It was so easy to get Mark Tremonti's (Creed & Alter Bridge)tones outta this

I set up the amp, pushed the gain, and selected "Overdrive". YAAAAAAAH-HOOOOOOOOO! It really sounded sweet.

Now if I could just save up the dough to get me one.

I came across a prs in a pawn shop about 4 months ago while just out browsing for a drum machine. It was an SE. I couldn't say it was the same one you are talking about, but being the sceptic that I am, I called in the "IT search force" to check it out while I was standing there. This guitar was priced at around 400 bucks. At first glance I thought it was one of those big pawn shop screw ups, but then found that they actually did sell for around 600 new.

Now, upon closer inspection I noticed quite a few shortcuts made on this guitar and decided not to make that particular purchase. I never plugged it in, but it actually seemed to have pretty good action for what it was. That being said, if I could find one that didn't seem to have so many flaws in workmanship, I think it would be a good back up guitar for that price. Next time I am near that pawn shop I'll see if it's still there.

These are stellar guitars, Stephen. Aside from Tokai MIJ gutiars, these are possibly the finest imports to be had. Very good stuff.

I'm going to get one or two myself, after having to sell 2 of my Singlecuts recently. Probably an EG SE, and one of those like you tried.

Stephen:

Save a few bucks and call Saul at Centre City Music in San Diego. He is a PRS dealer and has been outstanding in pricing for my guitars.

I played one when we were visiting SoCal. (It was at the GC in Laguna Hills.) I'd grab one in a heartbeat. My only beef was that I'd greatly prefer a stoptail/tune-o-matic combo, and I'd probably replace the tuners. They make one in Black Cherry that keeps grabbing my eye.

Mmmmmmm, black cherry!

Stop it! I cant afford it, and besides, I think the wife might severely injure me if I get another guitar!

If you look at the bottom of this page, you can see what the Black Cherry looks like. Mighty tasty, indeed!

Stephen, just between all of us, a 100 score is pathetic. You must find a way to make this happen, but get one of the transparent finishes, you can thank me later. :yeah:

I really like the looks of the SE One, but I can't for the life of me understand why it has no tone control..... don't they realize that my tube amp only has one knob? :D

I'm drooling now. That Tobacco Sunburst is just too much.

Wally, all ya gotta do is lay a nice thick prayer shawl over your amp, and then if you want more treble, just lift it up a little bit. Not too much, because that might be too revealing! :)

Well I went back to try it out again, just to make sure its what I thought it was at first.

Its that and more.

Man this GAS hurts.

Nah, I aint got enough to sell for that price, and I dont want to part with the two guitars I have. The Tele, sounds like a hot rodded Tele, and my Epi LP sounds like a good LP Custom. Now I want to have that nice PRS Tone, that this one has in spades! It definitely has that Mark Tremonti/Creed tone right at my finger tips.................

I just gotta get over it, and I will. I am satisfied with what I have, and I figure that this too shall pass, just like my lust for the SRV Strat, and the Floyd Rose Strat.

Just for the record, the love for the SRV Strat was justified.
