View Full Version : Any interest in learning some blues licks?

I'm putting some stuff together using Powertab for a friend of mine on another board and thought some people here might like to learn a few licks also. I'm not a master by any means, but I do know some blues licks. I plan on having the powertab file along with a short audio clip of each "lesson" since I'm not good at getting the timing right on the notes (I.E. 16th notes, 32nd notes, etc...).

If anyone is interested, please let me know...

Would we also have to have Powertab? (and what is Powertab?)

Yes you would. Powertab is a free program you can download. If you can't find it let me know and I'll e-mail it to you along with the tab and audio clip.

I would need for you to PM me your e-mail addresses for those interested so I can send the files out tomorrow.

Do you need anything special for Powertab?

This is a cool idea, I want it too! :smart:

No, you shouldn't need anything special to run powertab.

Sent...

So far I've sent this to over 15 people from different boards. I hope everyone likes it and can understand my ramblings...

thanks...do my ramblings make any sense? I'm not good at theory, so I didn't try to explain it that way...because I probably can't.

Okay. Let me know what you think. If everyone likes it I'm working up a whole intro to a version I heard BB King do of "Caldonia" that is fun and challenging to play (for me at least). I can send it out next week.

Very cool, very cool.

Jesus is The KING, but B.B. is still the King of the Blues!

Yeah I agree
Jesus is KING
BB is the king of blues
and I am the Duke of Disaster (when it comes to playing lead) :yeah:

We'll see if we can change that...at least for playing some blues leads. :D

Anyone had a chance to check it out yet?

I finally got some time to check it out. It's really cool!

I'm definitely not a blues player, but I love to pretend. :D

I never thought of extending out of the pentatonic that extra step. If I just take that - it's very helpful.

I can really hear how to play it BB style from the sound clips too. That was a great addition.

Thanx for the work!

Did you have to input all that, and tab it out by hand?

T-bone, I tried it last night, and I liked it. It was easy to download PowerTab and it's pretty cool. Thanks for the lesson!

Yeah...I put it all in myself. It's not hard, but getting the timing right on BB's stuff is not easy. The next lesson took me a while to get the timing. I still don't think it's 100% right, but it's really close. The next lesson will really show you how BB uses that same kind of scale on a faster song. Most of his faster songs seem more like Jump Blues the way he plays them. It should be really interesting. :D
