Not a specific lick, but mixing different keys together.We've all used relative major and minor (e.g., playing Am licks over C major),but another cool one is when you are in a minor key (ex. Em),back up a whole step (D) and play major in that key.This gives a frictional note (in this case,C# for D vs. C for Em).It turns the phrasing on it's head,and dances around the root note nicely. :cool:

if in a rut, try going through the different scale modes for some cool sounds, also chord inversions sound great.
