Nothing fancy guys... just a few very short clips of what the amp can do after 2 evenings to poke it. Still working it a bit to get the sweet spot.

This is recorded with my little PC microphone about 3" from cone and off center a bit (around the inner seam of the cone). Couple of different pickup positions. Used trial version of Adobe Audition (only six days left!)... :(

Very simple open chord progressions for the most part. Had the Flange+Rev/Delay DSP dialed in ever so slightly.

It isn't the holy grail of tone - but it is a WHOLE lot better than what I've had to date.

Enjoy.

Sounds bright.
I'd move away from that inner seam a bit.
Promising though. 8)

I might try recording with the mic in several locations and compare. Might be the microphone clipping on the 3rd and 4th clips...

I am a little confused about exactly how close to place the microphone to the speaker... I've read conflicting methods (or perhaps just different). Do I want it VERY close (1" or less), or moderately close (12" off), or even further back??

I know the cone is the brightest spot and that the outer seam is the darkest spot... I'm still not convinced that the microphone is just too cheesey to do a good job! ;)

Thanks Tele!

Welp,
I always mic amps the way I do for "live:"
A Shure SM-57 right up against the fabric of the cabinet cloth, slightly into the meat of the cone from the inner seam, and perhaps off axis towards or away from that inner seam to taste.
There's a used 2 X 12 TUBE Crate locally for $350, but I'm broke.
Besides, my Vox rigs are fun enough for the kinda girls I go out with.

Nevermind - this amp started buzzing and literally had things falling off of it.
