I know, we are supposed to be using our Telecasters. But we did "Who Am I" today. Last week when we did it, I was using my Telecaster. We had not rehearsed it well enough for last week, so we sort of crashed during the orchestrated bridge section. But this week we nailed it.

The Les Paul has a grittier bite. I don't have a high gain amp like they use in Casting Crowns. My Peavey Classic 50 can get gainy, but not like the recent Marshalls. So, the LP offered a little more meat to the power chords. The Telecaster did a fine job last week, but the LP just got in there a little tighter.

Also, earlier in the P&W, we did the sort of tranquil song of "Blessed Be the Lord Almighty". As the keyboards sustained the last chord while fading off and everyone was feeling the moment, I jumped down HARD on a strong open E chord for "Let It Rise". There was SUCH a contrast and everyone startled by the huge sonic boom coming from my corner  . It was great! The congregation was so pumped because they knew the song and the energy was right in their faces. We had been doing that song on the light side with a folk style jangly acoustic guitar. But this time, the LP woke everyone up. BIG TIME!!!

I love this stuff! I love to see the smiles and the worship in people.

Eventually, I'm gonna either build my dream Humbucker Telecaster (Two buckers, a 59 paf in the bridge, and a Jazz in the neck, and all LP electronics), or I'll get a Les Paul, or a PRS Single cut.

You gotta have a dual humbucker in your arsenal: every now and then, you need that big meaty sound!
