I'm saving toward a second rig and have almost settled on the MTS 3212 Combo. I know there is at least one person in our forum who likes Carvin stuff and that almost all users of their amps are extremely happy.
So, if you have used or owned an MTS 3212 head or combo:
What did you love about it?
What did you dislike about it?
How did you tame the volume when not giggin'? If attenuated, how well did the tone remain?
Are there other amps you would direct me to in the same price range with similar features?
Thanks,
~A~

I own two a 3212 combo and a head.In over 30 + years as a player and MANY Marshalls ,Boogies, Fenders, Soldanos ect it`s my all time favorite amp so far bar none.Great glassy cleans and KILLER crunches ,from sweet blues to screaming metal to 70`s Motown R and B I have covered it all with my MTS.Carvin set these amps up so they are very controllable I use mine in church a LOT and can get the volume low and still have a workable tone.Try that with a Boogie rec or JCM2000 Marshall some time. Here are some links to my stuff with the MTS. http://www.digitalsoundplanet.com/Members/000145589_000023957.mp3 sweet cleans and bluesy crunch leads. http://www.fisher-media.com/richard_rutledge.htm demos with my head and Bolt in the crunch stuff. These are all tracks I did in my home studio with the volume at 1 and below . It is the most controllable amp I have ever owned.Only thing I don`t like about the combo is the factory speakers and tubes I have a set of Eminiece`s out of an old Fender London 185 cab and aftermarket tubes in my 3212.

I have a 3212 and as far as clean channels go you can't beat it! Period!!! The lead channel as a whole is very much a high gain monster. I run the gain at about 6 and I get a very raunchy crunch. If this amp had a 3rd channel I'd be using it a lot more live. I will be going into the studio later this month and the MTS is gonna be used for all my rhythm tracks. I'm gonna use my Marshall JCM 6100 for leads. :P
