We are working on speaker placements crossovers eq ect to try and cut the mush in the bottom. Many have heard the recordings I have thrown out and complained about the guitar being burried. What do you think of this one ? http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=439224&songID=4453782
Still not perfect but I think we are making real progress. The room has some serious challenges with slap, boom and phase we are trying to address.

I think it's a much better mix over all....

That's certainly better than previous mixes in terms of getting the guitar "out there" - although I believe you could still get boosted more. When everything else backed out I could hear you hammering away.

Getting better. Still could bring you up about 6db toward the front.

Getting better. Still could bring you up about 6db toward the front.I agree, maybe more if you show some restraint (blend and balance) when not playing a solo break. And yes, the bass drum is the loudest thing in the mix under the vocals; real boomy. Maybe reducing the bass EQ (~60 Hz & ~125 Hz, ) with low bass (~32 Hz) slightly higher, perhaps add some low mid (~250 Hz), remove any reverb/echo from the bass drum and the bass channels, and/or lowering the sub's output if you have one will tighten it up and still have a solid foundation.

Was this recorded by mics ~in the middle of the room?

If I remember correctly from earlier posts, Richard's (rutledri) recordings come from a recorder using its internal mics sitting at the mixing desk. Maybe a Sony mini disk or something similar.

We run 6 2/18 EAW sub cabs spread out under the stage  ! Yep we have plenty of "thunder" !! The room is a 10,000 seat hall and at the soundesk in the rear where I have my Mini Disk and a condensor mic set up it is quite "boomy".
