FLCC Praise and Worship Team will be going into the studio. We should have the time booked in October. This is really exciting, because the team that is in place, really lays it all down on the altar for Jesus. I really hope that we can capture that same sense of Worship and Praise in the studio, as we do at church. Were gong to try for as much "live" recording as possible, and limit the over-dubs to vocals and lead, and of course any goof's that may arise.
The CD should be anywhere between 12 to 15 songs (all depends how quickly we get the rhythem sections (acoustic/electric guitars, bass drums) down: cant spend a long time in the studio ($).
So what do you all think: Should the Praise and Worship Team have a name, or should it just be FLCC Praise and Worship Team?

I think you need to do way more overdubs but that's just the producer in me.

My first thought is to call it FLCC. You can call the first CD "praise", the next one "worship", etc. Are you doing original songs? I'm with Micter that overdubs are the norm. Like in my experience, my third take is usually the keeper. After it is recorded and mixed, a different engineer should do the mastering.
Regardless, I'm looking forward to hearing it!

Good point. You never have the same person mix and master. It just doesn't lend to a good final product. The reason why I would like to see them do more overdubing is they want Stephen to record direct. I even offered to let him do his tracks over here if the cost was an issue. Oh well, things aren't always they way we want them to be.

I'm going over to the recording studio this week to scope it out, and see if I can isolate my amp, or an extension cabinet in a closet or a bathroom (we dont need no stinkin "going direct!").

Let me know if you want to borrow any gear. (Amp, guitar, effect, mic.)

This is a great project. I just wanted to know...
What are you going to use the CD for?
I have thought about recording one to leave on door knockers as a way to advertize church.

Good question. Were trying to get as much publicity as possible to get a multi-million dollar recording contract, and tour the world, and get all the fame and fortune we can.
NOT!
I know, "Bad webmaster, BAD WEBMASTER!!!"
Were going to use them for outreach (giving them away), plus any that we sell amongst the church body, all those proceeds will go to ministry, primarily mission's and missionaries, and if there is a little left over, were going to put it towards P&W gear (mic's, amps, monitors, stands, etc.).
Good idea about hanging em on doors............

It is great to see a church using ministry and technology as outreach tools.
God's blessings on this project.
However if you get a multi millioin dollar record deal could I be a roadie or guitar tech? :-)

I guess, but you'd have to talk to micter, PG, and reverbbb (engineer, Tech, and blue guitar manager) first.

OK, I have a need, and hopefully someone here can help:
I need a 1-12 Isolation cabinet. It doesnt have to have a speaker in it (I can provide that), but the key thing is, I need the isolation cabinet.
Micter has offered to let me use his Ultra G, but I want to have the isolation cabinet so I wont have a complete meltdown, if I cant get my tone with the G.
So anyone got an Iso-cab?

That's okay. I'll settle for lugging the boxes.
I have had good luck with the Ultra boxes, but good luck getting a cab.

No isolation cab here. Micter mentioned recording with an amp stuffed in a closet. Does the studio have a closet?

Must have missed this in my forum skimming. That's great news, Stephen! God's blessings on the project!
On the name: Why change it? Lots of church-based music groups have kept their names when going into the studio or recording live, including one I was once involved with. Take it to prayer. (I'm sure you'll all do that, anyway.)
Still waiting for a response to my recent PM...

I have recorded with the amp stuffed in a big isolation box. Be careful with combo amps. There's no ventilation, and eventually the amp will have a meltdown unless somebody remembers to open the box between takes now & then.
