Has any one tried the T-Von mods from Monti Allums? I have two so far with his mods a SD-1 with the Bleed fix and a BD-2 with the H2O mod. I liked them so well that I have a CS-3 mod kit on the way. My BD-2 with the T-Von H2O is FANTASTIC it is one of the if not THE best overdrives I have ever heard at any price! Totally trasparent and natural sounding and oh so smooth and sweet the thing SINGS!! The only thing is watch doing all the high intensity and clear LED mods as it can be blinding on a dark stage if you look directly at it. The info says you can use the pedal as a small flaslight LOL they are NOT kidding!! If you are thinking of spending big bucks on a boutique pedal look here FIRST as these kits turn the Boss and other inexpensive units into TONE MONSTERS!! First here is Monties site http://www.monteallums.com/ . Here is the site from a guy who buys up used pedals modds them and resells ay low prices . I bought my H2O and SD-1 both from him the CS -3 is going to be my first self modded pedal.

I got my CS-3 T-Von kit today. It took me about 45 minuits to do the install and the pedal sounds GREAT. The origional CS-3 was ok but colored the tone and added a tinny edge. The T-Von mod took that out and now it sounds like sweet natural tube compression. The T-Von modded CS-3 is a FANTASTIC sounding pedal now!!

So, how difficult are the mods to do? There probably has to be some soldering involved i'm guessing.

That SD-808 mp3 file sounds very good. Hmmmmmmmm. :?:

Some basic skills in working around on a PCB are required. If you have never tried it I would get some help. You have to desolder quite a few small components ( caps, diodes, resistors ect ) from a tight PCB and replace them with new ones. I had no problem doing the mods but have some background in repairing electronics.

I was considering a Jekyll and Hyde Overdrive, but am now considering 2 of these pedals. If the sound files are accurate, then these could be excellent pedals.

Geez, I just bought an amp, and I'm GASSIN again! Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!

So far the best two have been the CS-3 and the BD-2 H2O. the SD-1 is nice but the tones of the BD are smoother and fatter. I was playing a Fender Super-Sonic combo at a local shop today and used the three T-Von pedals through the clean channel. I actually got avery close tone with the BD-2 H2O to the cranked Burn channel! Actually while the Burn channel of the S-S was a little richer in harmonics the BD-2 was smoother.
It would be hard to tell them apart in a full band mix and that was IMPRESSIVE! I plan on doing one of the T-Von mods soon on my DS-1 so I will keep you posted.
The clips on Monties site are actually quite accurate to the tones I am getting with the modded CS-3, SD-1 and BD-2 H2O .
