Have you had one of these gigs that made you think why do I even bother to try? I know I sure had some gigs I wished never happened. I played badly, the other musicians played badly, the sound was awful, the crowd was terrible, and just about anything that could go wrong did go wrong. In time I have been able to laugh at most of these happenings. Share your story of your worst nightmare gig on elm street

I can honestly say that the last gig in the previous band I was in was one of the worst days of my life as a professional musician.

That's about all I'll say about it.

I used to play Jazz with the absolute WORST tenor sax guy on the planet.
There were MANY worst gigs!
Eventually I just played my chords and solos and let him make a foll of himself.
But the last night I played with him (several weeks ago now), after a particularly brutal murder job on a song that even HE had to notice he was lost, he turned to me and the bass player and said, "You should adjust to me!"
I said, "That would be constantly!"

I quit that night after the job, and haven't felt the need to play Jazz out since (it only pays about $35-$50/man + dinner anyway).

I have some old clients I'll still play jobs with, but mostly now I just look forward to Sunday Praise & Worship, and occassional missions, jails, etc.

Fortunately my day job is sufficient to pay the bills.

More like worst NON gig !!In around 1993 or so we got suckerd into going to the Cherokee Run H.O. G. rally to suposedly play at the CMF stage. We borrow our churches day care van pick up our "contacts "load there stuff and head out.We get to the run and go over to a camp site and unload the gear and head to the gate .The guys who brought up up tell us to wait as they get the details worked out to get to the site and stage --- never saw them again  !!Now an outlaw biker event with over 144000 in attendence in a church day care van with bullfrogs ,butterflies and the like painted on the side and all your gear stuffed up against the windows is NOT a good place to be abandoned in :? :x !!We NEVER saw the guys again, of course the CMF guys were oblivious but unprepaired and had no place for us. We went through half a day of HELL before finally just throwing in the towell and driving back home in defeat and disgust. It and severall other like "nice experiances" with other fine "brothers" did inspire a song on our first album #5 WOLF here http://www.fisher-media.com/Ascension/tribute.htm .We learned pray HARD listen to the Lords voice FIRST but we still used LEGAL BINDING CONTRACTS in all out of State bookings if we had not worked with them before from that point on and went on to a rather sucessfull ministry but that one really hurt and almost wrecked us.

Oh yeah,

Back in about 79, in my BC days, our band played at a biker party. After our first tune, a rather large biker walked up to our drummer and asked us to play "Born To Be Wild." So we did the song. After the song that followed, the same biker walked up to the drummer and told us to play "Born To Be Wild" again. The drummer, in his infinite wisdom, gave the biker a one finger salute. The biker then opened his jacket and showed the drummer, and the rest of us a rather large pistol, and a K Bar knife. Need less to say, we played "Born To Be Wild" again. We ended up playing that song, every other song, for the rest of the set. I now hate that song.
