I re-recorded the track at a higher tempo this time with a light crunch on measures two and four. It`s my Carvin MTS 3212 combo with my stock Carvin Bolt with AP11`s no effects just guitar and amp. Most folks don`t know much about the Carvin stuff so I thought I would drop this out.Carvin has been arround since 1946 (longer than Fender  ) and is still in the founding families controll and all US built ( except the Cobalt Accoustic line). The amp guitar combo that I used will set you back less than the retail of a JCM 2000 DSL 100 Marshall head alone!! Take a listen http://www.digitalsoundplanet.com/Members/000145589_000023957.mp3

Nice creamy compression and pretty sounding woody tone. And it sounds like it would retain that value too, if you dug in with a touch of mustard. It does have that 100 watts of headroom/412 sound. I like that.

The amp will keep that tone and clarity at absolutely INSANE and PAINFULL levels .I have played with Black gospel groups outdoors and got GREAT motown sparkeling funk tones .I did one gig where the PA was substandard didn`t run the amp miced outdoors and spanked the Bass amps and the PA with this thing.Soldano SLO100 like screaming crunches ( examples at the end of the post here) and these for clean tones for less than $700 bucks delevered with a foot switch and a cover .It`s all tube (5 12AX7`s and 4 6L6`s) US made and built like a tank.http://www.fisher-media.com/richard_rutledge.htm

That MTS has got me quite intrigued. (no I haven't heard your clips yet)

I was an avid Carvin X100 user in the 80's when everybody was doing the Marshall JCM800 stuff (or worse- modding plexi's). I had two full stacks. (yeah...I know...) It gave me a real good crunch tone with a SuperTube OD in front of it, and the cleans were stellar. Carvin had, and still HAS one of the finest clean tones I've ever heard out of an amp, let alone a reasonably priced one. I hear the MTS carries on the cause, so to speak, and even sounds better clean.

What has kept be at bay was the cold-biased tubes that will make the amp's dirt channel sound a bit cold and buzzy (but that is easily remedied). As the years go on, more people are internally tweaking these MTS' into tone absolute monsters, from what I hear.
Hmmm...you know, I always loved Carvin for the volume boost thing. They ruined me, Abolutely ruined me.

Since those days, I've always had to have three dedicated channels, with my solo channel (or amp) boosted 3db. Works like a charm.

Anyway, I just might have to put this model on my "to get" list. I'll give your clips a listen later- can't wait!
