I read elswhere that someone bought a Boss NS-2 for $69.

Well, I went to Guitar Center last night in excitement that I could get me one of those NS-2 too. But the guy said they were $99.00 . I bawked big time but he wouldn't budge on the price.

So, I bought the Rocktron Hush pedal instead.

What a joke! This thing did a fine job of knocking out the guitar noise. But it sounded horrible at all settings. It was like a compressor, expander and noise gate that had lost their meaning in life and could not find their way home again. I know what it was trying to do (boost the weak signals and squash the strong). But it was the worst pedal I had ever put under my feet. Either something was seriously mal-adjusted from the factory, or it is simply a piece of junk.

I'm taking it back today. Unless I can find a NS-2 for $69, I'll just live with my little hum for a while.

Based on my experience, I would advise to flush the Hush!

Don't feel bad- I owned the rackmount HUSH unit at one time, and I couldn't get that thing to work for me at all. YEAH, it killed the 'noise', but it also killed my tone. A nice concept, but useless in it's execution, IMHO.

I can't imagine how how they can cobble all that into a little stompbox with decent results....

Too bad too. I am big on looks. It had the coolest blue anodized chassis. Blue is my favorite color too. I know, just call me vain and shallow.

You are very vain and shallow....

I will submit that I am usually put off by 'cheesy' looking gear, but as I get older, I really don't care anymore. If it sounds great- I'm happy. If it looks cool in the process- hey, who am I to complain? :!: :!:

I've got an eye for quality stuff, and treasure/appreciate quality workmanship. That could be a good OR a bad thing, I suppose... :?

Uh, Roger, its kinda hard to tell, cause you seemed to candy coat it so much, but, I think your saying you dont like the Rocktron Hush, or is that something you use to clean out the septic tank?
