I just tried out the Squier Tele® Special. Rosewood fret board, 22 frets, 1 humbucker at the bridge, and one single coil at the neck.

Specs say its an alder body, with a maple, C-shape neck.

I was impressed with this guitar. Played very well, the finish looked good. String-through design. Even the tuners worked exceptionally well! The jack-cup was loose, and floating around a bit. Pretty light too.

I played it through one of those new Champs with DSP.

I've got to admit, it is a pretty good rig. It felt real comfortable, and played real nice. I would like to try it through my amp, to get a better feel for the sound (the Champ DSP was ok: nothing stellar), but at $199.00 bucks (US), its a great deal! I'm really thinkin about gettin one.

Played it again, and I think I'm gonna get it in January. My plan is, I'm gonna install a peizo bridge system, replace the bridge pup with a gibby 500T, replace the neck pup with a Jazz humbucker, and replace the volume/tone pots, with LP pots.

This way, when I need the acoustic sound, I got it. Or if I need that meaty humbucker sound, I got it.

I figure it would be a good addition to Number 1 (my Squier).

What do you think, am I nuts?

A good guitar is a good guitar, no matter who made it, when, or where.
I've had Squires that were stellar.
