Schecter C-1 E/A is a quite special little piece of work. At Schecters website they claim
The new C-1 E/A combines the mellow warmth of a vintage hollow body with addition of true acoustic tone and clarity; courtesy of a specially designed RMC Piezo loaded TonePros bridge
I wasn't actually sure they could keep this promise.
These are the specs as listed on the Schecter website.

CONSTRUCTION: Set-Neck
BODY: Mahogony w/Quilted Maple
NECK: Mahogany
FINGERBOARD: Rosewood
FRETS: 22 Jumbo
SCALE: 25 1/2"
INLAYS: Split Crown
BRIDGE: TonePros System w/RMC Piezo
BINDING: Creme
TUNERS: Grover
HARDWARE: Chrome
PICKUPS: Duncan Designed HB-102
ELECTRONICS: Elec: Vol / Tone / 3-way Piezo Vol / Piezo Tone
Dual 1/4" Outputs (Active/ Passive)
Well, I got the guitar and unpacked it carefully. I got it in black finish with the quilted maple shining through and it is a beautiful piece of art. The neck was straigth and feels good and smooth, and the guitar had one of the best factroy setups i have ever gotten. The piezo system from RMC is a dream to use live and in the studio. It's one of the best systems I have tried. It sounds rich and full without sounding dull. I am however not too crazy about the Ducan Designed Pups and I might be swapping those for some pups from Rio Grande. I mean, they don't sound bad, but I would like a bit more clarity in them. Since the pups are passive and the piezo system is active, it s quite some diffrence in the output signal. That is not really a problem if you use it with a PA system going directly into the mix, but I kinda like throwing the acoustic signal through a tube amp as well blending the pups and the piezo. In the USA this guitar retails for about $999 but I am sure you can find a lower price at one of the big stores. For this kind of buckaroonies this is in my opinion one of the best buys you can do if you look for an all around electric/ acoustic deal. I have already used it on two recordings and it sounds grrrrrrrrreat when recorded. If you guys have any questions about this axe, please let me know and i will try to share more of my views.

YEAH!! That color is real cool!!

I think ANYTHING US made as far as pickups go would be a BIG improvement. I've ditched every set of DD p'up's I ever had. They "function", but that's the only thing I'll say about them.

RioGrande's would be a great upgrade, Viking; as would Seth Lovers, or finding a cool deal on a set of used PAF clones; that being IF you want to maintain a somewhat 'vintage level' or output.

Nice score, bro!!

Rio Grandes have never dissappointed me with any models I've tried.

I can't quite picture the guitar though.
Is it a hollowbody?

Ya - got my eye on that very model - GC/MF has them for $699. I will probably get one first quarter 2005.

Perhaps the pickups that come with it were chosen by Schecter because they work well with the piezo system when blending... ?

Just a thought.

........... well in my opinion that is the problem, they don't blend all that well. The piezo system has a lot of bottom as well as a good mid and clearity, the DD pups just don't cut it. I have a friend who replaced the DD's with a Texas BBQ Bucker Set from Rio grande and he is amazed, and i know this dawg is one picky dude when it comes to sound. I might do the same or check out some other deals from Rio

Those types of guitars can be a very usefull tool.I have a Deep Purple flame top DC400 Carvin with the Fishman set up and a Wilkerson that I use quite frequently. The active module in the Carvin will let you blend the pickup systems quite well and also includes a trim pot to set the output level on the Fishman to ballance with the regular electrics.I have the Holsworths in my 400 and with the active module and its active EQ and blend controll really gets a wide range of tones and sounds nice .I use a LR Baggs ParaCoustic for the direct signal to the board it`s not quite as nice as my Takamine but in the full mix is actually quite natural.
