Schecter C-1 E/A is a quite special little piece of work. At Schecters website they claim
The new C-1 E/A combines the mellow warmth of a vintage hollow body with addition of true acoustic tone and clarity; courtesy of a specially designed RMC Piezo loaded TonePros bridge
I wasn't actually sure they could keep this promise.
These are the specs as listed on the Schecter website.
CONSTRUCTION: Set-Neck
BODY: Mahogony w/Quilted Maple
NECK: Mahogany
FINGERBOARD: Rosewood
FRETS: 22 Jumbo
SCALE: 25 1/2"
INLAYS: Split Crown
BRIDGE: TonePros System w/RMC Piezo
BINDING: Creme
TUNERS: Grover
HARDWARE: Chrome
PICKUPS: Duncan Designed HB-102
ELECTRONICS: Elec: Vol / Tone / 3-way Piezo Vol / Piezo Tone
Dual 1/4" Outputs (Active/ Passive)
Well, I got the guitar and unpacked it carefully. I got it in black finish with the quilted maple shining through and it is a beautiful piece of art. The neck was straigth and feels good and smooth, and the guitar had one of the best factroy setups i have ever gotten. The piezo system from RMC is a dream to use live and in the studio. It's one of the best systems I have tried. It sounds rich and full without sounding dull. I am however not too crazy about the Ducan Designed Pups and I might be swapping those for some pups from Rio Grande. I mean, they don't sound bad, but I would like a bit more clarity in them. Since the pups are passive and the piezo system is active, it s quite some diffrence in the output signal. That is not really a problem if you use it with a PA system going directly into the mix, but I kinda like throwing the acoustic signal through a tube amp as well blending the pups and the piezo. In the USA this guitar retails for about $999 but I am sure you can find a lower price at one of the big stores. For this kind of buckaroonies this is in my opinion one of the best buys you can do if you look for an all around electric/ acoustic deal. I have already used it on two recordings and it sounds grrrrrrrrreat when recorded. If you guys have any questions about this axe, please let me know and i will try to share more of my views.
